7403 in 1-1. The Gold Flower + Repeated Goomba Towers = Profit!

Yeah, it took me a couple tries to figure out that trick, but I got it before you said!

What technique do you use to make your tower repeat? Do you go to the underground secret area or the sky one?

I was about to get just over 5000 on this last coin run, then accidentally mis-shot my gold fireball and ran into the 3-stack Goombas with about 40 seconds left, so I finished at 4576 as my new best!

Haha, that 1667 seems like child's play now.

I go into the sky area. It takes less time to go up there and back, especally since falling beings you half of the way back to the goomba tower. I always shot two golden fireballs as quickly as possible while falling and chased them to deal with the ministack.

I'll remember that. That ministack has proven to be a problem a few times for me now.

If you go underground, you get about an additional 100 coins for sliding into the Goombas. My record for this level is above 8,000 coins, so you know who you should listen to.

And because of this, I point out that level 2-4 is a much better level to gain coins. You can keep jumping on the Goombas in the underground section without exiting and reentering pipes all the time while racking up close to or more than 9,000 coins.

It's 50 each time going underground. So, while you're right, it depends on how much time can be saved going to the sky. It probably isn't enough to make it worthwhile (each trip makes 30 coins from the ministack, 300 from the big stack, and the optional 50 from the underground, so 380 total, plus up to 15 for killing the other baddies along the way).  If I take the sky route, that cuts out 50 (up to 60 potential) from the equation, or about 1/7. So if I can cut the trip down by more than 1/7 the time going to the sky instead of underground, it's worth it.

As for 2-4, that definitely has higher potential, but also requires a lot more skill. I definitely would like to be able to see how high I can get down there, but it's a LOT more difficult.

I don't think I've broken a thousand on a single stage, yet. Now that I see that this is a thing, I'm gonna give it a shot. I'll let you guys know in a few days. This post is really just me tagging the thread for my forum buddy.

I think most i've cracked is 700-800.

But then again i've never specifically tried. I'm entirely focused on cleaning out the last of the star coins

How in the bloody HELL do you get the first Moon Coin in Star-1? The drawbridges close before the coins turn back into blocks!

World 1-1 5771 coins!

Switch!!!

My new record is 6578, World 1-1.

As for Moon/Star Coins, if you can't figure out how to get it, first just jump down to get it. If it's not a bottomless pit, you're good to go. If it is, big deal, one life. Hundreds more are a piece of cake to collect, after all. Next attempt should be to try throwing a koopa shell at it (though that's likely not the answer if there are no koopas or other kickable enemies in the area).

Sometimes i try to think i'm more clever than i am. I suppose that moon coin was one of them, where i was trying to think "ahead" of the developers. They tricked me :/
