Based on the the launch lineup alone, I suspect the Wii U will outsell the Wii in Japan.

Do not forget the fact that the most sold platform gets Dragon Quest XI. So it is either 3DS or Wii U. Another megaton. About Final Fantasy and Metal Gear, I'm not so sure. Even with Ps4 selling less I could see it the home of the FF and MGS franchises. |
Maybe, maybe not. FF isn't Sony exclusive anymore (FFXIII went to both XBox360 AND PS3), (and Kitase DID express interest in bringing FF to WiiU) and Kojima didn't necessarily say "no" to Wii U development. Something tells me those two will come to WiiU as well. And for the record, I never really said "as exclusives", but as multiplatform, meaning both could come to WiiU AND PS4/720.

Indeed, they are pulling out all the stops and really pushing everything to the max. They seem to have been doing this for the 3DS as well. I wish the same could be said for both platforms in the western regions...

To be honest its the japanese games which most westerners want, in some cases they just need to arrive here closer to their japanese release, whilst in others the right japanese games haven't been announced yet: Final Fantasy, New Zelda, Pokemon etc. Of course a GTA or western styled RPG would be nice, but developers over here scarcely release AAA games on handhelds.

Millions? The game itself has sold around 600k so far on the Wii. |
Well not millions from DQX alone. You've got to factor in Mario and Monster Hunter.
One thing's for sure, we're going to be seeing a lot of this in 2013:
