If I am to take your username literally, then I assume your TV is pretty close to the ceiling by now, yeah?

News that ‘Bayonetta 2′ is coming only to Nintendo’s next-gen Wii U has some fans up in arms.

After all, Platinum Games only had two choices in this scenario: They could either not make a sequel, or they could bring the sequel to the Wii U as an exclusive. Either way, non-Wii U owners are out of luck. Given their options, I think Platinum Games did the right thing.

Well, no they didn't only have 2 choices. The third option was to convince Sega that Bayonetta 2 would be a viable 3-console + PC multiplat. Evidently Sega are either really smart or really stupid for rejectiong PG on this. We'll see I guess.

I also dispute the claim that PG did the right thng. Arguably PG should recognise that Bayonetta is a franchise with limited appeal in a genre that really struggles to get really high sales. Basically, God of War and Devil May Cry are the only comparable franchises that have met with big success. And this gen DMC has fallen well behind. So that leaves God of War as the lone big selling H'n'S game. So PG, from a business perspective, could have been better off putting its resources into something else.

If PG was smart (which they possibly aren't) they should have got themselves an out clause to allow them to publish on other consoles if certain sales levels aren't achieved: e.g. if B2 gets at least an 80 Metascore and sells less than 1.5 million in a year then we get to try to put the game on other systems.

That way if B2 sells like Madworld it would still give PG a chance to get some sales from a fairly cheap porting process. And it gives them the choice of either old gen console or new, given 1 year after launch on Wii U it will be PS4/720 launch time.

The problem isn't whether Bayonetta 2 would be viable as a multiplatform game. The problem is that a sequel to Bayonetta is an expensive prospect with less return than, say, something with Sonic or Mario or the Olympics in the title. It really comes down to SEGA's own internal logic. What kinds of games do they want to produce? How do they reduce publishing costs? The answer, according to SEGA, is to find a capable publishing partner. Both SEGA and Platinum Games have a history with Nintendo, and it's possible that Nintendo cut them a better deal than the other options (such as, say, taking on full publishing duties and marketing the game as a must-have Wii U exclusive).

In short I believe that if anyone is to be blamed for Bayonetta 2 not being multiplatform it's SEGA for (perhaps unreasonably) not wanting to publish the game without a partner, and once again SEGA for choosing Nintendo. Or maybe we can blame Platinum Games anyway because Inaba is a Nintendo fan (especially Star Fox) and therefore probably would not strongly object to this at all.

The ironic thing is that all of this fanboy Nerd-Rage is just promoting hype for the game lol

My feelings towards these "fans" are best summed up in the following:

Throwing such a temper tantrum over a game being exclusive like this is just pathetic.

I was thinking the same thing. All this rage will most likely just help the game sell more copies.

The stupidity of these people is so mind boggling on so many levels, it seriously makes me lose a bit of faith in mankind.

So you're gonna hate on Nintendo for not making the kind of games you like. Then Nintendo DOES make a game you like and.. that makes you hate at them MORE? Ook..

Most of these idiots don't even realize that Nintendo is the REASON this game exists! Some big fans they are.. It was cancelled, and Nintendo decided to revive by buying the exclusive publishing rights.

Have these knucklehead ever considered just buying a Wii U?? God forbid! Hell, I'm sure many of them were fine with buying a 360 at $400 or a PS3 at $600..

I mean, I get not wanting to buy a console for a single game, but.. do they really feel that out of the 100s of games that the console will inevitably have, that they won't find at least a few games they could get into??

Seriuosly , what the hell is wrong with people? :/

100% yup. I had zero interest in the first game, and I would still have zero interest in this sequel even after hearing it became a Wii U exclusive.

But now that I've seen all the tears and all the retarded butt-hurt, I can't wait to pick up this game and enjoy every minute of it like slowly eating ice cream in front of a spoiled child.

Aww, aw de ps twee sicsty fanboys butthuwt? Hewe, have a bandaid for your booboo.

Seriously, cry me a river. I am so happy to hear this news, the true nature of fanboys across the internet is finally emerging, and the day they are served crow is fast approaching. I - Can't - Wait.

Well I think the real issue is the lack of loyalty from Platinum Games to their fans. It wasn't Nintendo or Wii fans that made Bayonetta a success, yet they get the sequel?

I'm gonna presume this is a timed exclusive and the HD twins are going to get an improved version. If this stays a Wii U exclusive then Platinum Games is going to lose a lot of fans.

I never understand this mentality. This is like the same shit people say about MoHun.

You are a fan of the game and what does loyalty have anything to do with what console it is on? The loyalty from Platinum Games to their fans is to make the sequel of the beloved game. If you want to play the sequel, buy the system the game is on to play it. period.

Also, this is a game on a next gen system and there is no guarantee people who enjoyed the first game on PS360 would buy the PS4 or 720. Developing the sequel on Wii U is as good as developing it on PS4 or 720.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
