Forums - Nintendo - Forbes: Angry 'Bayonetta' Fans Lash Out At Platinum Games Over Wii U Exclusivity

Frankly, I find the act of throwing a huge fit over this Bayonetta issue extremely offputting, short-sighted, and immature. Be disappointed, say you’re disappointed, but refrain from cussing at the developer on Twitter; refrain from acting like an idiot. Surely we gamers can do better than this.

This paragraph sums it up nicely.

This is how I felt about RE5 not coming to Wii, after RE4 with pointer controls, showed how good a non rails BS RE game could be. I let CAPCOM knwo i was dissapointed but I didn't go saying I would kill myself if they didn't make a wii version lol.

At the end of the day, I bought a PS3 and got the game becuase I wanted to play it. ThenCAPCOM released a Move Compatible version, So i got that too haha.

Aww, aw de ps twee sicsty fanboys butthuwt? Hewe, have a bandaid for your booboo.

Seriously, cry me a river. I am so happy to hear this news, the true nature of fanboys across the internet is finally emerging, and the day they are served crow is fast approaching. I - Can't - Wait.

Well I think the real issue is the lack of loyalty from Platinum Games to their fans. It wasn't Nintendo or Wii fans that made Bayonetta a success, yet they get the sequel?

I'm gonna presume this is a timed exclusive and the HD twins are going to get an improved version. If this stays a Wii U exclusive then Platinum Games is going to lose a lot of fans.

It doesn't need to be for Wii fans, it can be for prospective WiiU fans, who should buy the console because it's worth it.

Bayonetta is Nintendo saying "buy our console because we want you", but they are saying FUCK YOU. So they can suck Nintendo's balls.

This is the beginning.

Didn't read the initial post, hm?

There was no sequel. Sega said no. There wasn't going to be. Nintendo was responsible for it getting done. Fan loyalty doesn't mean squat if you can't make the thing in the first place.

Nintendo should keep it exclusive. They brought it back to life, after all.

That's the story, but I don't necessarily believe it. Now I do believe Sega would back out of publishing a sequel because they're imbeciles. I don't believe Nintendo saved this game. I think Nintendo made an appealing offer and Platinum Games wanted an opportunity to get a game published by Nintendo. I'm sure that's an honor because Nintendo doesn't do it often.

I still expect a PS360 ports to come eventually. I think there are publishers willing to bring this game to other platforms.

Not entirely sure what you don't believe, really, but, okay, fair enough. Not my place to say anything because neither of us will ever actually know what was what. It'll never come out and the details of the deal won't ever surface.

I will say though, if Sega had any intention of publishing a sequel, I'm fairly sure that there would have been no implication that it was cancelled at all. Companies don't like losing that inertia that comes with these sorts of things. Loss of inertia is kind of fatal to most companies in this business and the rumours were well abound of Sega's restructuring turning Baynetta 2 into a casualty. Nothing says otherwise. Far as most people were concerned, a sequel would have never seen the light of day.

Platinum Games wanted to get their game published and said okay to an exclusive for a Nintendo deal. Sega agreed, knowing full well that some green is going to be thrown their way because of it. Done and done, rather good deals all around. So, technically, that DOES kind of say that Nintendo saved the day on that one.

Well do you think people are angry at Platinum Games or Nintendo?

I would guess they're mostly angry at Platinum Games.

the first bayonnetta wasn't really a success, that's why there wasn't gonna be a sequel

and that's like the classic angry-fanboy phrase: "yeah it's a exclusive now but it will surely suck so they will make a cooler, improved, fantastic, upper dupper better version in my cooler better console"

Seriously? The game sold nearly 2 million copies and trounced the sales of every other title by Platinum Games. There are a lot of games that sell less and get sequels.

You're putting words in my mouth. Have we not seen late ports with content added in the past? Ninja Gaiden 3, Mass Effect 3, Batman Arkham City... just some examples.

None of those being published by a first party.

The best example in your favor is Ninja Gaiden Sigma/ Sigma 2, but somehow i don't think Nintendo is going to allow that to happen in this case. But then, of course, against your case, stands Mass Effect 1.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

The reaction against this move demonstrates something ... Some gamers are so irrationally angry at Nintendo that anything Nintendo does will make them angrier at Nintendo.

If Nintendo focuses on broader market gamers who are more interested in accessable fun than "hardcore" experiences, Nintendo is an mean company that has abandoned these gamers for "casual" gamers. If Nintendo attracts more "hardcore" experiences to their console, Nintendo is a mean company that is "stealing" a game from their preferred platform.

I for one am happy that the anti-Nintendo fans are cutting their wrists in whiney despair right now. I can just see them now:

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
