wow... Finally Patcher talked a bit nicer than the other day.
And I think he just wait to saying about a doom thing a few month ahead.
Companies always say that a price cut isn't on the horizon as it causes people to hold off on buying it until the price does drop.

There are enough die hard loyalists to float this console for a few months, but there isn't going to be a queue forming up behind them. He seems to be betting on us as a community to be vindictive when it comes to Nintendo. Well to be honest gamers can be pretty damn petty. A lot of us will probably be down on Nintendo without knowing what it is they are offering. Before anyone gets morally outraged about what I am saying. Remember Nintendo turned their backs on core, and hardcore gamers first. Something they themselves have acknowledged. It doesn't seem unreasonable for him to take us at our word. Nintendo as far as a lot of gamers are concerned is a four letter word that starts with the letter S. It just isn't all that far fetched. We can be real vindictive bastards, and we can hold grudges for years. We are slow to forget, and even slower to forgive. So Nintendo may well end up having to cut prices to deprive us of excuses for why we are going to deprive ourselves. Interesting question for this community given what happened with the Wii. What argument would you use to get a core or hardcore gamer to buy the new console. If they feel that they were burned on the previous console. It is a serious question, because I thought a lot about it writing this response. I didn't come up with a way for Nintendo to make the case in any way that would work well. |
No what they said was that they left the hardcore by the lack of third-party support not by by there games.

I find that links and quotes provide for better rebuttals. Don't take my word for it. This is what Mr Iwata had to say on the matter.
“Moreover, regrettably, what we prioritized in order to reach out to the new audience was a bit too far from what we prioritized for those who play games as their hobby. Consequently, we presume some people felt that the Wii was not a game system for them or they were not willing to play with the Wii even though some compelling games had been released.”
This is actual leadership. Owning up to mistakes, and taking responsibility rather then shifting the blame. I know it sounds strange to some people, but it isn't a third party developers job to prop up a platform. It is the job of the manufacturer to attract third party development. It is a manufacturers job to make the platform dynamic enough to support third party software. Nintendo didn't build a machine that served the needs of hobbyists on a technical level, and they didn't produce the software needed to maintain their patronage.
Nintendo has admitted to this on many occasions. They did abandon the core and hardcore community in favor of the casual market. They know that, and everyone else knows it as well. So there isn't much point in lying about it. Especially when they need to convince hobbyists to give them a second chance. They cannot very well do that if they act coy about the problem. They really need people to feel that they have gotten the point.
Seriously it took me all of thirty seconds with a search engine to find that quote. You could of fact checked your thoughts with ease. Well here is the link to the article I pulled the quote from.

Well the premium is 299.99£ on Amazon.co.uk and currently sitting comfortably at number 2.... Judging by its position on the charts, I think it will do extremely well, hopefully the momemtum will continue going forward and will not suffer the same fate as the 3DS did post launch at first. Only time will tell but I think Nintendo hit spot on. |
Down to 5 now, but yeh its doing better than I expected it to, ill probs pick one up at christmas time if its got some good sales done by then :)
