Forums - Gaming - Insomniac has “theories” as to why Resistance wasn’t Sony’s Halo, says Price

I don't think I have ever seen a series as brown and ugly as Resistance. It never stood a chance against Halo, comparisons suggesting so are down right laughable.

R2 on the other hand provided some noteworthy bosses and set pieces. Not carrying that over to R3 was the death of the series.

two words: "compelling storyline"

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

I think the reasons are: character design sucks, it was not promoted well, and it is not epic. Those are also the things that are bringing down the Killzone franchise.

In Halo, character design is good, it looks epic, and was promoted a lot.

Its because Halo is simple a better game in most respects bar weapons where Resistance has the edge.

This is the Game of Thrones

Where you either win

or you DIE

The PS3 will never have a "Halo". It just does not have the FPS fanbase that the 360 has. Even if Halo became a PS3 exclusive, it wouldn't sell as well as on the 360.

Also, R3 had some awesome advertising, very atmospheric and moving, but it wasn't advertising that would appeal to most 15 year old boys.

The honest answer to this is simple, Halo is simply a much better game.
