" Jools Watsham, head honcho of stellar handheld game developer Renegade Kid, recently commented on his blog about whether the company porting games like Mutant Mudds to Steam will effect their development on Nintendo platforms.
There is some concern that Renegade Kid would switch to developing for PC more so than Nintendo platforms but Watsham shoots down those fears. Watsham says:
“Porting Mutant Mudds to the PC, and selling it on Steam, has the potential of bringing some much needed funds into Renegade Kid, which will go straight into the development of new games. As we’re being perfectly – and frankly – honest here; I would like to put the majority of our future development efforts into the 3DS eShop and Wii U eShop titles (we’re authorized Wii U developers now btw – excite!).”
So the PC port of Mutant Mudds is really just a means to fund Renegade Kid’s 3DS and Wii U games in development. Renegade Kid is one of my favorite developers and their games like Dementium, Mutant Mudds and Bomb Monkey continue to impress.
While I wasn’t one of the people concerned that the Mutant Mudds PC port would lead to less development on Nintendo platforms there has been a long history of developers supporting Nintendo systems and then leaving Nintendo behind when they find greener pastures for development.
But Renegade Kid has enjoyed great success on the DS and 3DS. They are working on bringing the new content found in the PC version of Mutant Mudds to the 3DS version as a free update in the near future. Not only that, they are developing a sequel to Mutant Mudds on 3DS for 2013. These guys know what they’re doing and with so many people down on Nintendo (and traditional handheld gaming) it is good to see somebody still supporting them with this much enthusiasm. "
Just wanted to share this with you guys.
