Forums - Nintendo - Rumour: European Wii U Release Date and Pricing Confirmed by French Retailer

The prices seem to be copied from amazon and the december 7th release date still looks like a "last possible date for 2012 release" thing. So I don't think this data holds value.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

AAA games are €69 these days (and since the beginning of the gen) in Europe, so that's not so surprising.

I live in Europe (Ireland), a new AAA game here costs between €45-55. I bought MW3 for €40 about 2 weeks after launch.

The last time games were near that price in this country was back in about 2007 and only for a select few titles (COD 4 springs to mind). Or unless you were shopping at over-priced retailers.

So €69 would be a bit shocking.

Perhaps I'm out of touch because I haven't lived in mainland Europe since 2005. But I now at the beginning of the gen those were the prices, at least in game shops (don't know about buying online).

Anyway, surely the official RRPs remain similar, right? Even though the shop may discount the games these days. I guess that's the price that the site lists.

The prices at the beginning of a gen are always more expensive. Then as consoles hit mass market I would assume retailers can buy copies in larger bulk and sell games for cheaper.

It was actually that you said those are the prices "these days" that I replied. If I saw a game for that price today at a shop here I would laugh. (I'm not talking about online prices, which can be cheaper again.)

I have a theory that the store might assume that is the release-date since that was the same Friday Wii released in 2006

Please dont release the Wii U in December. I will be too skint to buy it!

if us will be 349 dollars, europe will be 349 euro (obviously the euro countries). if us price will be 249 dollar, we will get 249 euro here.

But 349.99 in Euros is still much more than the Dollar right? Have not checked it in a while. I could be wrong. But last time I checked it was a lot more. 349 Euros would have been closer to 400 dollars.

Yup. €350 = $442

The stores tend to ignore that when pricing their products though.

In Portugal, games retailing for 69€ is nothing new.
I hope this doesn`t apply to first party games that are sold for 49€!

I think that the date and price are almost garanteed.

a price tag of 350 euros is a bit much but within reason. but 70 euros for a game is total bulls***

most day one ps3 games  are about 50 - 60 euros

It's the same here in Spain, 69 € is the common price for new releases.

I woul blame the distributors rather than the stores.

Why? I thought the big three usually states that it's up to retailers to price their products in Europe while the US tend to have fixed prices?

Since the games are not too much of a leap supposedly in power, I do not think I will want to pay more than 49.99 for them. Then that price tag! No way in Hell! $349.99 USD would be high, but that in Euros is insane!

if us will be 349 dollars, europe will be 349 euro (obviously the euro countries). if us price will be 249 dollar, we will get 249 euro here.

yeah sure but that's what we get as rrp here (or would get, it's just a rumor), the dollar price just with a euro and no dollar sign^^ at least that was for the last consoles.

i thought you meant that you have to pay the same price in usa then just converted to dollar. so let's say: rrp in europe = 349€ = $450 = rrp in usa

you shouldn't forget about something, in usa, your price tag is without taxes, here in europe the price is with taxes.

if the price tag is 349€ it is the price with taxes. without tax the price tag would be 293€ in germany which would be $370.
