Forums - Sony - The Last of Us - Pax Demo - Proof that it's not scripted

1.)  There are plenty of games with lush wildlife and vegetation.  And some with far better vegetation than this one
2.) The art style may be decent, but it's still not meritable.  There's nothing special about it is what he was trying to say and that is true.  More games than ever are going with a stylisitc approach to hide console shortcomings.  Which is ok, since in the end it looks better.
3.) It's sort of obvious from the gameplay.  You walk around and move a table or whatever in the whole of 5 minutes.  It would normally take less, but they had to implement rather boring dialogue. (My opinion I suppose)
4.) It really is a dull theme.  Look at the number of post apocalyptic games out there.  I'm fairly certain there is already a movie based around a similar story too.  It really don't bring anything new into the genre.  Basically Uncharted: The Apocalypse.  No undefined claims here.

5.) Of course it won't be forgotten. How would Sony not milk a series that fanboys love?  Of course come the 10th uncharted they'll still attack Nintendo fans for their games being rehashes and Nintendo milking their franchises. Uncharted in Next gen graphics?  I see Uncharted as a PS4 launch title.  Maybe it'll be the last of us 2.  I'm not sure if Naughty Dog was done with uncharted or not.
6.) Uncharted has no different gameplay than any other action orientated game.  The only difference is, it tends to lean on the linear side more so than others.  Which is fine for those who like the franchise.   The gameplay isn't my issue.
7. I agree, all up to someones opinion.
8.) I hope they change it up though.  Uncharted and the Last of Us are still too similar. Naughty Dog should wander from the path for a game.  I'm sure their fans wouldn't mind as long as the game is good.

I don't exactly have a problem with the game.  I just hate how fanboys tout it around like it has the best console graphics or something.  When clearly it doesn't.  It's on part with other high end console games.  Just with a tad bit more color.  Which is fine. Just if those other games had some more color they'd look exactly the same.

1.) Yes, there are plenty of games with lush wildlife. I wasn't trying to say otherwise. I wasn't making the point that TLoU belongs to a very small group of games that have lush wildlife. My point was to disprove JustthatGamer's  comment that  It's just another post-apocalyptic game with nothing but dilapidated buildings & cars for environments
2.) I thought it was good. Not sure what constitutes meritable in your opinion, but this was great for me.
3.) The length of time spent walking was obviously exaggerated. Developers do that all the time with demos. I'm pretty sure most gamers won't just be walking around slowly just to look at the environment. Most are going to run through the non-action sections of the game.
4.) So, because it's an apocalyptic game, that automatically means  it's just dull, and no imagination went into making this game.  The theme may be dull but who cares? Some of the greatest games come from dull themes. And the dullness of a theme is subjective anyway. I don't think the apocalyptic theme is dull. How many apocalyptic games have there been again?

5.) Great, so you agree that it won' be forgotten.
6.) Not many games play like Uncharted imo, but i guess you have your own opinion.
7.) Great
8.) How exactly are Uncharted and The Last of Us similar? Give me reasons

I do not want to argue with you with everything on that list, so I'll focus on this.

Uncharted: Set globally, fairly light-hearted, not really grounded in reality, massive blockbuster set-pieces, action adventure, main enemy = pirates/hired guns.

The Last of Us: Set in a post-apolalyptic USA, serious and grounded in reality, main enemy = desperate survivor clans/fucking ZOMBIES, action but also survival horror, RPG elements...

These are just the main aspects, I haven't even gotten into the minutia yet. I guess they look similar because it's on the same engine, but that's really it.

I don't know if you want to do that. I got in a debate with Michael-5 about this same issue and it was terrible. (It happens in the end of the thread if you're interested in reading through it). On the other hand, it could be pretty easy for me since I could just recylce what I said there and use it here.

guys...don't feed it....don't feed it....

While I am not as excited as certain others, the game is still attractive and a good demonstration of what these current-gen consoles can be maxed out to.

Well by meritble I meant it's nothing super special is all.  Mertible would be something completely different from the norm, but still manages to do a great job I guess.  Anyways, I will take your word for it on the gameplay and will add I guess my statement was a bit rushed since neither of us have played the last of us yet to verify our claims.

This pretty much puts an end to people being bored watching you play a video game, that was intense! can't believe how quick 15 mins went by. Can't wait to play it.

I refuse to even watch the video.

I have just read gilgamesh's comment as I couldn't resist clicking on the thread.

I hope this no-spoiling strategy will make this an even more unforgettable experience.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Do what?  And seriously nothing I've said wasn't true.   Heck I even looked back and agreed on something to resolve conflict as I realized what I said was taken out of context.  Seriously.  In my OPINION, in which i'm entitled to have.  I found watching this was boring.  I'd rather watch someone play something else.  I'm glad you enjoyed it.  I just don't understand why people say this game looks better than say the witcher 2 on the 360.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfMdctwnJEM

Both games actually look very similar in technical quality.

Here's a better video

Skip to about halfway for the color you want.  No I'm not saying the 360 is better by any means, I just was using an excellent looking game for comparison is all.  And I wasn't going to bring a PC game into a console debate.
