Forums - Nintendo - Wii U Zelda coming in 2014, will be biggest Zelda game ever! (Exclusive details from trusty source!)

I predict that the purists will hate this game and everyone else will say Skyward Sword is better.

This is how it usually works.

I'll only hate it if they shove in unnecessary gameplay mechanics based around the touch-screen controller.  There's some cool things they could do like using the controller as an actual "Lens of Truth", and quick item selection will make gameplay and combat much more fluid rather than constantly pausing to swap items and weapons in your inventory.

All I know is I pray that there is no more "waggle" controls in the next generation of Nintendo games.  This also falls under the original point i made... unneccessary gameplay mechanics shoved it just for the hell of it or to try to appeal to the casuals when a simple button press is suffice (especially when it comes to 2D platformers:  see NSMB Wii and DKC Returns for prime examples).

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I want to believe!

What I like: Same art style as SS. What is the point of having a powerful hardware if your games use only colors like back, red, brown and gray?

What I dislike: No mention to the Wii Remote. If Nintendo wants me to press a button to slash the Master Sword the new will have no value to me so I will buy it only when its price drops to U$ 20.

For me, it was the complete opposite. SS was the first Zelda game since the original I have not owned and never will. Motion controls were great for games like Wii Sports, but don't work that well for core games like Zelda. The fact that I no longer have to use waggle in a Mario game is an epic WIN for me.

Sounds like good news. More reason to get a Wii U since SS was my favorite Zelda game to date. I hope we get some Zelda on 3DS to hold us over until then.

Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward = best game ever made.

Skyward sword had by far the best dungeons in the series, but everything else was wrong. The sky was scarcely populated with anything interesting, it needed to be more like the ocean in WW. The artstyle, while good, was limited by the Wii's hardware and in turn looked poor in a lot of ways.

Listen I personally prefer WW style, I think it looks the best by far, but if your making a game for a fairly powerful console, go for a more realistic approach.

Traditional controls, WW/TP art style, better overworld, cooler items, improved combat. Make it happen. I really don't need a huge team to do this.

This, oh god this.

I'm only on the fourth dungeon in SS and I've had it since launch day. I go back to it now and then but it just doesn't have the same hook for me like the previous Zeldas. I'll have to beat it and then wait and see what this new Zelda turns out to be.

I'll be glad if it ditched the controls of Skyward Sword. I couldn't stand them at all. Caused me to completely lose interest in the game.

I thought your mom ended up liking them!

We both ended up giving up.

If you have to work to get the controls to do what you want then it is shit. No ways around that, lol.

This is from a life long Zelda fan. (No, fan does not mean I accept whatever shit they hand me. My standards don't drop for bullshit loyalty lol)

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!
