Forums - Gaming - EA defends sequelitis, bemoans lack of "reward" for launching new IP

He is spot on.

The "fans" are the ones to blame for sequelitis, they buy the same crap different day but turn their noses up at new ideas.

EA went through a phase of trying new things with Mirror's Edge and Dead Space to name 2, neither did as steallar as they deserved.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Maybe they should be taking advantage of the release of 3 new platforms to release a half dozen new IPs?

I think he will be proven wrong in the coming months with all these great games being released.

To avoid sequelitis people need to be open to new ideas and games and not just buy the next iteration of a known franchise.

Mirror's Edge comes to mind.

I didn't play either of those two (although I've played Dead Space 2, made it about halfway through) but I keep coming across the pleas for a Mirror's Edge sequel. Does surprise me that they dont try to make something of that when they're making sequels for Army of Two. Saw the trailer for that at Gamescom and it look so oridnary and boring, played like Gears of War but withut an interesting plotline.

He's 100% right. The best time to come out with new IPs is when a new console is on a new console and it's always a good time to release several similar sequels when you're EA.
