Forums - General Discussion - Wal-Mart planning to KILL Blu-Ray

Hmm people will be screwed when they bought it and discover they can not watch many movies on it because those are exclusive for Blu Ray.

And this is only for Amerika not for Europe or Asia. I don't know anything about this wall mart are their many in the U.S.A?

It is a big risk for Wall Mart what if the people wants an Blu Ray drive and not a HD DVD drive Wall Mart will be screwed.

If you don't believe that Walmart can end this war then read this and see how much effect Walmart creates.

There's rumours that it's Blu Ray and not HDDVD, either way whoever Walmart decides to sell will spell the end for it's competitor

Here is the link you need to check before declaring HD DVD the winner of anything:

They're actually Blu Ray players, the press release said high definition dvd not saying it's in the HD DVD format, bad translations.

It looks like this might actually be a huge boost to Blu Ray in the format wars

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

If Wal-Mart goes for one side on the format war we can possible guess who is going to win. If it is Blu-Ray Sony have a real chance in striking gold. With the volymes Wal-Mart might need we can possible see a faster price fall for the PS3 to. Anyway intressting news.

Buy it and pray to the gods of Sigs: Naznatips!

For all the the freaking kiddies - walmart will still sale standalone Br players.

and the price means next to nothing, Sony already plans a $300 Br player by the end of the year. (you can get a Br player for 480 right now)

so crap quality hardware from some nobody, or Sonys hardware.

lol tough choice.

yeah we wouldn't want crap quality from a nobody, we'd rather get the crap quality from a somebody. In case you forgot only you Sony fanboys think Sony has high quality products.

Yeah that must be why the PS2 sold over 115 million units world wide. Anyway I still predict Blue Ray will be the winner. This HD-DVD player still isn't going to sell as well as the PS3. Spider-Man 3 will for all intensive purposes will have more of an effect than who walmart gives a slight support edge.
