just because this kid might be made fun of by peers for a whole assortment of things doesnt mean that this family should encourage something that definitely will when its such a completely insignificant thing.

given the option kids would glutton themselves on candies and chocolates but that doesnt mean it should be allowed. should their choice of unhealthy foods be supported and encouraged? should the father also start just eating such foods to support the son's choice?

what if this kid decides he prefers no shoes?  or no clothes at all even?  should those be supported?

You can't compare eating junk food to wearing clothes of different shapes than the norm. Sure, the latter may cause psychological issues if he gets bullied, but by that point he may just switch clothes if it gets to much on his nerves. Junk food, on the other hand, is direct harm to your body.

Wearing no clothes at all is illegal, so that's not even up for discussion. No shoes? Don't be silly, that can also be directly harmful. Unlike clothing preferences.

they don't wear shoes on the picture^^

but that's not the problem in a small clean city were you don't find shit like broken glass on the ground.

Yeah, which is why I said "can" and not "will". And it's not like not wearing shoes during your childhood will cause you to never wear shoes in appropriate situations when you grow up :P
