Saying someones post is terrible is not moderation worthy. Its not flaming. Maybe as a mod you should learn the damn rules. Let cone post the two links of site admin outright saying someones posts are stupid because I aint going to look for those.

After reviewing my mod history, the 14 day ban should be non existent as proven by Kantor and Torrillians posts. And the 7 day ban was bullshit too. Its along the same lines I'm arguing right now. Saying someone is spewing ignorance is different than saying someone IS ignorant. Which is what I got banned for. Like kantor said, someone is being idiotic is different then saying someone is idiotic. Saying someone's denial is pathetic is different than saying someone IS pathetic. 21 of those days should be non-existent. As for the 10 day ban, go through that thread. I had to report sting three seperate occasions for "shooting the messenger" before making that comment that got me ban (which was very weak comment to be banned for). And there were mods online. They should have taken control of the situation long before it devolved into that. That is all on the mods that were online at the time.

However, to address your broader concerns, you need to realize that the definition of "insult" is subjective. You would need to point out the incidents in question to the mods in general, which would be fully appropriate for this thread.

I know the rules just right, but I wasnt the mod who banned you so I dont know why youre getting pissy with me for correcting you. If you have an issue it needs to be taken up with Conegamer, axumblade or Kantor.

You were saying that a user was being pathetic. You followed it up with even more hostility after. And why? Because Dark_Feanor didnt believe the anecdotal evidence been presented. Essentially it was seen as baiting. It was doing nothing worthwhile for discussion and you were provoking an argument out of him with your un-needed hostility.

A lot of it boils down to Rule 10 and Rule 13. You should read them.

Look at where you are going wrong in those posts. You simply arent being civil with people. You arent showing other users respect or courtesy. Youre making things get heated and youre losing yourself in petty little arguments with other users.

As for you arguing about if 21 of those days shouldnt be on your record, how about we go back further? You have had 11(!) bans for flaming since January 2013. On 3 instances, those bans were kept to 1 Day. In reality, because they were all so close, the 3rd ban should have been a 5 Day ban with the progression system. Your ban record goes 1, 1, 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 5, 7, 10, 14. In reality, you should be looking at a permaban. After that first 10 Day ban, you should never have dropped back down to 5. You have been given more than enough chances to cut out the hostility and trash talk, but you seem incapable of doing so. Lets look at some examples from over the Years in your mod history.

Again - Look at yourself. Look at how you can improve your posting style and keep a lid on your emotions. Its been the same since you first joined. Change the way you behave and people will look at you in a different light. You wont be getting banned nearly as much and in general, the forums will be a better place to browse.

Okay, I will try to be more specific. But I tried avoiding this because I don't want to feel like I am giving out an English lecture.... Which this will sound like. But it has always been my understanding from the higher ups that insults which are directed towards the subject AND personal will not be tolerated. "You are stupid." "Mr Khan is a big mean jerk face." "PS fans are the worst fanboys in the industry." "People here are retarded." Now, these are all directed to the subject of the sentences and personal. The subjects of the examples are you, Mr Khan, PS fans and people. Since these are all being directed at people then they are personal too (obviously). Those examples are all moderation worthy.

I was banned for saying "Dark Feanor is spewing ignorance" along with "Your denial is pathetic." First off, ignorance is not the same as calling someone stupid. To me calling someone ignorant is not insulting. If someone says "GC sold more than the PS2" then that is a very ignorant thing to say because obviously thats not true and you must not have the knowledge that it's a false statement (or in one word ignorant). Basically, ignorance is the lack of education/knowledge on something. Stupid is the lack of intelligence. Intelligence is the lack of ability to acquire knowledge. EVERYONE has the ability to acquire knowledge so nobody is stupid. Trees are stupid. Animals are (debateably I suppose) stupid. EVERYONE is not knowledgable though. That's why ignorant is not insulting. I am ignorant on astrology because I lack knowledge in that subject. However, that doesn't make me stupid because I can take a class in astrology to acquire that knowledge. I think people see the word ignorant and automatically think insult. In this specific case Dark Feanor was saying that the Ps4 is in no way supply constrained.

As for the second part, the subject of the sentance is not Dark Feanor but his denial because that's whats being talked about. It was his denial that he was displaying in which was pathetic. I never said he was pathetic. Denial is weird in this sentence because its a noun (has to be as the subject) form of an action. It's very similar to what Kantor said, "Acting idiotic. Slight difference." Acting is "behave in the way specified." Denial is the noun form of deny. Deny is "a state that one refuses to admit the truth or existence of." Deny and Acting are verbs. Its those verbs that are being insulted. Niether are people so they can't be personal and the way denial is being used its the verb that is being insulting so it isn't really direct either.

Thats why you can say posts and comments are stupid. They are noun forms of verbs.

Basically, even though these insults are technically directed towards the subject (because once you start talking about them they become the subject) they aren't the same because its the actions that the subjects represent that are being insulted.

As for my recent ban, I directly quote Torillian earlier. "People need to realize the difference between something said about a post and something said about a person. I can't call you stupid that's against the rules, but if I have good reasoning I can call your post stupid without any issue." Here is what I got banned for:

First, when Nintendo changes their system is irrellevant. If 6 years from now Ps4 is still selling but Nintendo is on to the next system then why would that mean Wii u outsells Ps4 if the Ps4 sells more... Ps3 never outpaced the Wii... That is why it will never pass the Wii. 12/6 = 2. 10/6 = 1.66. Very simple math dude.

You want to know what is going to sell the Ps4? A consistant stream of games. Thats what sells every system. Ps4 doesn't need one game. It just needs more games than the Wii U got. And thats easily accomplishable. 3rd parties will guarentee that. Oh no... Ps3 is only 5k less than the Ps4... oh wait... wasn't Ps2 selling better than the ps3. Why yes, yes it was. Does that mean the Ps3 didnt take off? Absolutely not.

No one game will save a system. Right before MK8 hits sales will slump. When MK8 launches Wii U will get an insanely high boost first week. This will be because the sales it lost from earilier weeks will be rolled up into one week along with bringing in new audience. Then sales will steadily decline over then next month back to 40-50k weekly... until its next game... which is when again?

Calling a post terrible isn't even nearly on the same level as calling it stupid anyway. I've already defined stupid so I don't need to do that again but terrible just means bad.

Bottom line, just because things are negative doesn't make them moderation worthy. First off the proposition (or point being made) of whats being said needs to be taken into consideration. Even though ignorant is a negative doesn't mean that saying someone is being ignorant is moderation worthy.

Suggestion: Maybe a flow chart needs to be made to make moderations consistent... which might seem insulting "why the fuck do we need to tell us when we should be allowed to moderate" but consistancy is just bad. Is something said a negative? No: No moderation. Yes: Is the negative an insult? No: No moderation. Yes: Is the insult directly attacking a person/people who you could reasonably expect to read the comment? No: No moderation. Yes: Moderation is appropriate.

Ignorance is not an insult thus not moderation worthy. Maybe the mods here need a dictionary? Dark feanor was NOT called pathetic just like the poster Kantor was talking about was NOT called an idiot.

I said your hostility was provoking an argument out of him. You were baiting him... You deserved the ban for not adding anything worthwhile to a discussion and for baiting him into an argument with your un-needed hostility.

I did read the thread and you did indeed add something to it.

The posts you were moderated for however added nothing to the discussion other than to antagonise another user. Thats why you were banned. It was baiting an argument. It was un-needed and un-wanted hostility.

Look at your post history. Look at your mod history. Look in a mirror. Its quite clear judging by the posts I linked earlier what the problem is. If you fail to see that and thus fail to clean your act, then your bans will only get longer. Take the advice that kirby gave you earlier.

My posts style has NEVER change since I've been here but I can go stretches of months without hearing a peep from the mods. And then I make a very similar comment I've made numerous times within the last time and for some reason I get moderated.

Face it, consistency is a terrible issue with you guys. Torillian says I can call users posts stupid... but then I get banned for saying someones post is terrible. Kantor says I can say someone is acting idiotic... but then I get banned for saying someones denial (which is the act of denying) is pathetic.
