The topic of spammers is being heavily talked about amongst the mods, don't worry.

I think the best way to deal with threads like that is to move them to a subforum where post count doesn't increase. I don't care if they are viewed less because they're less visible or whatnot, because they contain nothing of value. It would also solve the problem of people spamming these threads just to get a higher post count.

Less talk. More action!

Murder action

The site is active because of Wii U.

Lol, Posters are just doing what Mods approve of. If mods make post the user above you threads then posters are going to do it. If other posters are allowed to make spammy threads then other users are going to do it. The Word game was made originally for one reason. Because veteran posters were being allowed to make spam threads when I was denied. I will not say who because I like him. I did it originally for spite! Machina blocked me for half a year from doing a simple voting thread on 90's movies. So you all got hit with spam threads from hell. You need to be fair and consistent across the board. If new members cannot troll then neither can expert troll veterans. If new members cannot spam then neither can Mods or veterans! If you are not willing to ban half the FUCKING site You two above then shut the fuck up! You talk about what you want to happen but no one in their right MINDS would evar allow you to be mods because you would literally turn this into communist China and destroy the site!

We do not need another NEOGAF. Site is hella busy right now, and you two want to bring it back to Hell like it was last year. Every thread has thousands of views every thread is busy. Get a clue you two!

Mods, site Admin, ioi! Look at the forums. They are booming. Listening to these two will cause the site to crash! Losing these two posters will not hurt the site. Ban me I do not care, but do not listen to these two guys. They know absolutely nothing about Vgchartz in 2012.

Nothing! We had this argument before and the site has only gotten busier since then. They are wrong and I am right. Proof! Have Pineapple do another "How busy is Vgchartz " Thread if you need anymore proof.

/thread!

I would be willing to ban people who consistenly do not contribute anything to discussion. That's not what I was talking about, though.

If someone only posts in a thread to increase their post count, that tells me that it is not a post worth making. I think these threads should be moved to a subforum where post count does not increase to cut down on spamming for the sake of increasing post count. People are still free to post in these threads. I post in places on other forums where my post count doesn't increase because I want to discuss the topic that was posted.

I'm not sure why you're insulting me for sharing my opinion, however. I chose not to apply to become a mod because I have no desire to be one. I don't think I'd be a good one, which you apparently agree with, but I have very different reasons for why and banning spammers is not one of them. I have never claimed to be an old, great veteran user of this site and make no claim that my opinion is more or less important than others. Please calm down.

I am not insulting you. I am insulting the guy who is insulting this site with every post he makes. I do not even barely know who you are Mr. Insomniac. I think I played a mafia game with you once and I have no quarrel with you.

I agree. Move these types of things to a place where people cannot complain about post count or points anymore.

You see others? That is how you make a compromise. Try it sometime and people will not be so willing to fight you at every angle.

Ah, my apologies. The way you worded your post made me think you were talking about Khuutra and myself. Either way though, insulting people won't make them more likely to listen to you, even if they started to insult you first.

In that case, I'm glad you agree. You wouldn't even necessarily need to remove the post count. I think the most important thing is to move them to a place where people can filter them from their hot topics if they want, while still being able to see other off topic threads. Having a spam forum works great on another site that I visit. It's very active and a lot of people have fun there, but it also doesn't increase post count and if you don't want to see those threads, you don't have to.

Well, you got what you wanted @above. How will you help the site now that the spam is gone?

One word spam threads don't help the site, Pezus.  They just increase people's post counts.

There's nothing wrong with the elimination threads, but the Word Game honestly didn't add anything to the site.

I will copy and paste a wall post as pezus asked:

"it's just one thread. If like 1/3 of the threads on the front page were dumb spam games then I'd understand... but 1? You don't have to participate and it doesn't do anything to the quality of discussion. It's not like I was gonna create some deep philosophical thread instead. People aren't going to suddenly stop talking about anything if a forum game pops up here and there."

+ it's just a fun little game that some people like to play. Not your thing? then don't participate, ignore it, like you do with 90% of threads anyway. Again, I understand that it can be annoying if there's loads of them, but with that word game there was only 1 on the hot topics page. I don't see how 1 of these threads every now and then is a big deal. At one point there was like 3 a week, and that was rightly addressed imo, but that shouldn't mean we can't have any at all.

Wow. Really?  That's a dangerous path to take.

If they are perpetually negative (meaning constant never-ending), then I agree with Pezus.
