But if all we're worth is "vague responses" then maybe it's not even worth trying to fix any issues you may have anyway, if you can't even be bothered to tell us them.

Actually i clearly stated issues i had.  You want to work on them then be my guest, but i know you guys wont.  But here i will highlight it for you again.  No i will not go into detail about it though.  Im actually done here.  So im going to leave this thread now if i have your permission

A lot of bans are nitpicky, some people do have more leverage than others, continued stealth trolling from users is still rampant,  and on occasions ive even seen mods make rules up as they go along.

Now Cone I really do not like you.  If you want to PM me and talk about that then go right ahead.  But when i ask you to not reply to me id appreciate it if you grant me that. There is plenty of other mods here that can talk to me that i personally dont have problems with

Since you provided some details, I guess I'll do my part and reply to the best of my knowledge.

A lot of bans are nitpicky - I'm not sure I understand this one but yes we do nitpick the part of a user's post which breaks the rule. I somehow doubt that's what you meant though.

Some people do have more leverage than others - Some users do have more leeway than others because we moderate according to each user's history. As for leverage, I'm not sure I would use that term as I don't see respected users having more leverage when it comes to getting someone banned or getting their way.

Continued stealth trolling from users is still rampant - Stealth trolling is hard to moderate since it's often up to interpretation. The only solution I see for it is to "build a case" against stealth trolls by showing it's not a one off sly dig but a pattern.

Mods make rules up as they go along - This one I'm gonna need examples for.

So Hynad asked me if he could post a comment here. I checked it over, told him to change some things and that I thought it'd be fine, not knowing the history of you guys and Axum's comments (only joined the mod team a few months ago, this is well before then and it hadn't come up). Had I known that, perhaps I wouldn't have allowed him.

The best advice therefore is for you guys to continue listening to Axum's comment and PM; nothing has changed. If you do indeed comment again to each other; then moderation would be the only answer.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

As far as im aware there was plenty of people against you on Pezus's original ban that led to another ban that eventually led him to leave the site. Peopl argued it but you all were cool with that ignoring what people said and why they were against it.

Not too long ago there was plenty of people with your all's actions to a thread that people love. You all are very aware of that one. You all decided to make rules as you all went because you all did not agree with me and something i said IN THIS THREAD so decided to take it to that thread and threaten to shut it down.  Somewhere along the line you all just decided you all could do whatever you wanted disregarding who was effected by it

More so there was plenty of people that were upset with the mods to where i was talking about it for them. Yes, for them because i told everybody if anybody will get banned i will take it. Which is why i was considered the hobbit guy. Big inside joke.

To continue things further ConeG and me had an ongoing argument about his behavior to where axum had to step in and talked to me personally what coneg was doing wrong but he wasnt willing to give up on him. He also told me why he was threatening the thread, because he didnt want me to exclude him. Added to that he told me that he did want somebody to keep an eye on the thread which explained ConeG's everlasting appearance though to this day ConeG refuses. I immediately sent the message to everybody via skype. People were more aware of the situation than what you guys knew. Thanks to Axumblade everybody was happy and thought it was all very reasonable.

Too bad ConeG decided to try and make me look bad publicly by twisting to the story to where he was reported to the mods, THis is why i and others consider him to be fake.

Ive seen posts like the one i quoted above. Its nitpicky. There is so many comments similar to it that dosnt get moderated. Now this is where leverage comes in. Because he has a history he is more likely to get banned. If a user has a history like rol they are less likely to get banned. Its all based on history rather than basd off rules.

Stealth trolling. God, lets just talk about users rather than posts in this comment. THough i guarantee you all know what users id list

Would you prefer me to mak long comments like this that wont get addressed but rather explained further to why you all did what you all did? Because that is the exact kind of responses that i and most other people will always recieve

#UnderGroundMovement is a joke because you all created it in your heads.  It wasnt like that

Sorry if there is any typos

But my comment, while certainly done in context to what is happening here now, wasn't directed directly at him. I remained vague enough that my comment can be applied to anyone coming here without any constructive criticism and feedback. He didn't have to reply to me.

You do have some legitimate complaints here, and cone has made some questionable moderations (like basilzero for example).  However, like axum, I still think he will be fine, just needs to go through some growing pains.  I think you may have given up on him, and the rest of the mod team too quickly.  Just give them some time.

also, to the mods in this thread.  Jay does make a good point in which when a user does have a complaint, the mods do seem to gang up on that user in this thread.  I know you are just trying to explain your point of view on the complaint, but it can feel a bit like the user is being silenced and not listened to when four mods are telling him or her why they are wrong...

Around the Network

I'm not going to comment specifically, but I'm not here to hide behind moderations which I've made in the past which were wrong. Everyone makes mistakes; the way I handled certain situations when I started doing this work (not being clear enough, for example) was the wrong way to do it. However, having said that I have learnt from the errors I made in the past and truly do believe that I am a more balanced mod now with fewer mistakes (look at this thread, for example).

Maybe I'm just being a little bit optimistic but as time goes by I hope to improve further. I've won some people over and I hope to continue to do this. Obviously I'd rather not make any mistakes but they happen, so hopefully you guys have seen improvements first hand!

I've noticed that too. Maybe there could be a bit of a change of approach there, but I think part of it is that the mod being questioned isn't always active so other mods steps in to try and explain the moderation. That may make users feel like they are being ganged up on, but the alternative is potentially having to wait a long time for a reply which would just make people think their complaints are ignored.

Yeah pretty much. Remember that a lot of decisions are discussed in mod chat; but not every moderator will be on all day. For me at least, I don't want a complaint or point to go ignored for hours, days even, if it isn't needed. So I like to chime in to try and help the user in question understand the problens to show they aren't being ignored before the moderator in question shows up to go into more depth about it.

Can see why people would see it as "ganging up", but that isn't meant to be the case at all. If someone was here to be deliberately insulting, however, then perhaps things would be different but that happens rarely enough anyway.

The first ban, this one, was for continuing the "Mod" discussion outside of the designated areas. The post he quoted had a warning which he ignored. I still to this day dont see why this ban was such a big problem.

The post he quoted had a direct warning to not carry on the mod discussion, yet he removed it and carried it on anyway. He didnt have a leg to stand on.

The second ban was for the same thing, only this time it was on his wall. He really had no proper argument here, he broke the rule and the moderator(s) who handled it decided to hit him with a day ban each time. Even after all of this, pezus did come back. He was under an alt called Ninsect. Also wouldnt be surprised if Ninsect's sudden disappearence was met by a new alt, this time with its tracks hidden.

I dont fully understand what you are saying here, but Im gonna go ahead and guess this is about the whole Xbox Empire thread moderating thing. Not my area.

From what I can remember though, this was all sorted out and you all came to an agreement. There has been no problem since, right?

I see this as a problem.

We dont want one spokesperson for the "masses", we want the masses to be heard. If people have serious complaints or questions then they need to bring them here directly, not through a 3rd party.

I have no comment on the whole Conegamer thing, as Im not in the know. That ones for axumblade to answer to.

With bans, yeah. History comes into it. Who they are comes into it. Who the people are matters for example, because of specific relationships users have with eachother. You and Hynad would be banned for calling eachother idiots. You and Ryuu96 on the other hand wouldnt be moderated because you are friends. We know there is nothing malicious intended. The same would be said for a lot of users regarding a lot of different things.

No one user gets special treatment. Nobody is above the ruleset, including the mod team. Its all about context. The users history has to be taken into account. Not just the post history, but relationships with other users and behaviour on the site in general.

The rule set is at the core of all moderations, but common sense has to come into it too. A users history simply has to be looked at. I mean, its right there in the rule set - "Because new users have not yet shown a commitment to civil discourse, moderators will look more harshly upon them (and upon prolific rule-breakers) than established users with relatively clear moderation histories. If you are a long-time member of the site, it is easy to tell the difference between a light-hearted, humorous post, and a genuine piece of flamebait."

I prefer long comments with substance to the vague complaints. They are worth so much more for both parties understanding of the situation.

If you dont know what im talking about then you shouldnt even reply. Just makes the comment bloated. And you all can defend that pezus ban ovr and over again. That isnt going to get any more people to agree with you. The community clearly spoke up about this when it happened to which you all ignored. As i said Mods > Users

I may not know the entire story with what happened to pezus and everybody else who left but you carl was a key factor on that choice, and i do know that as a fact.  So to say the mods arent pushing people away, in your words, is rubbish.  It has happened, and it continues to happen.  Hell ive wanted to leav this site because of you guys.  Seece has recently disappeared because of you guys for an example, as well as other things

If its not a moderation from me, if I reply to the user Im just giving my own view on it. Trying to help the user in question see it from another point of view (which is always a good thing). My view may or may not be in line with the other moderators view (As we arent all in mod chat all of the time), but I think its at least worth something.

I even did it before I became a moderator. For and against the mod team

Users shouldnt feel intimidated coming in here and asking things. Anything at all. Ive said this before and Ill probably say it again. Dont see a disagreement as an attack, just see it as a different point of view.

... What?

I understood most of your post, other than the bit where you spoke absolute nonsense. You said this - "Not too long ago there was plenty of people with your all's actions to a thread that people love" - I mean, how am I suppose to totally understand what you are saying? What even is that?

The Conegamer/Axum thing that I dont know about, I avoided.

It doesnt matter if people agreed with pezus being moderated or not. It wouldnt matter if you had 100 people who disagree with his moderation. He broke the rule. He was told to move any moderation talk to the correct place and he didnt. He directly ignored the warning. He got moderated. End of discussion. How hard can this be to understand? It doesnt matter what user or group of users disagrees with a moderation. It isnt a democracy. Its never been a democracy.

If people disagree then they can bring forward arguments, we will review things. Dont expect any moderation to be overturned though just because some people disagree with it.

I mean. Come on. Work with me here. What kind of reply is this after I take the time to go through your post and give you answers?
