Forums - Gaming - This generation's gonna end with a bang.

What do you think of this lineup?

OMFG unbelievable 15 45.45%

Good 10 30.30%

Meh 5 15.15%

Garbage 3 9.09%

Total:33

I would also point out that you've got all the blockbuster titles there (which is great), but there's loads of not-as-big-but-still-exciting stuff that I'm (personally) a lot more hyped for.

A new Sly Cooper, a new Ratchet & Clank, LittleBigPlanet Karting, Ni No Kuni.   And those are just the ones that I know about, I'm sure there's more off my radar that I'm forgetting.

I'm waiting for Tomb Raider to turn off my PS3/X360 forever. This game will end this generation for me.

For third parties this is great news.

For consoles planning on launching next year it is not.

Breaking News: Troll Whisperer threatens to attack E3 2013 with an atomic bomb.

OT: That never happens. Whilst there are blockbuster, high-quality games being made for a generation, that generation is not over. It is indeed possible that the 7th gen will continue to get excellent titles after the 8th gen consoles have started to come out (especially since the Wii U is out very shortly), but you can't really consider the 7th gen to be over.

Like the 6th gen, it will end when game development for that generation dries up, which was early 2007 for the PS2.

An atomic BANG, I'd say.

Probably about a year before all current consoles have a successor, and we have:

Assassin's Creed 3

Halo 4

Beyond: Two Souls

The Last of Us

Grand Theft Auto V

God of War: Ascension

Gears of War: Judgement

Resident Evil 6

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

Bioshock Infinite

The Last Guardian (if it sees the light of day)

Final Fantasy versus XIII (ditto, but this one seems more likely to release at this point)

Watch Dogs

Tomb Raider

And that's only the blockbusters, add to that many smaller, but still great titles.

I don't know what the hell happened, but for the last year or so the release lineup has been quite lackluster. The next year (late 2012 to late 2013), however, is gonna be huuuuuge. I'm quite hyped for most of these.

I think this generation will end with a Big Bang mainly because of Ground Zeroes and also because of The Last of Us.    The other games even though are looking awesome (GOW:Ascension), they are games you would already expect based on other games in the franchise.

Ground Zeroes is MASSIVE.   It is based on elements of previous MGS games, but takes them to infinity and beyond. The animations are really smooth, and the transition between them can not be noticed at all, making the movements of BigBoss really fluid and real.   The facial animations are out of this world, and the graphics O_O!! It is an open world game and everything looks on par with the Last of Us, and the face detail of the characters looks a lot better than the Last Of US.    The gameplay, with all the stuff Kojima is adding, is going to be superb! For me Ground Zeroes will most probably blow out of the water every game this generation.

The Last of Us has a lot of potential, because it is a new concept coming from a great developer. So far everything looks really great, but considering we have so little information about the game it is hard to think that it will be as revolutionary as Ground Zeroes.    Considering all of what we have been hearing and reading about the game, makes it look that in fact it will be revolutionary.  We know that the game wont be as linear as Uncharted but, it would be nice if the developers actually demonstrate that to us, so we can know how open the game will be.   The graphics look amazing even better than those in U3:DD, but the facial animations, after seeing Ground Zeroes demo, lack something ¬_¬.

After playing RDR, I think that maybe GTAV can be quite revolutionary, but we dont know a thing about the game lol.  Considering RS pedigree, I believe they are aiming to be a revolutionary game, and that is why they have not showed us anything "significant" yet.  Before showing us something, they want it to be "perfect".

For me there is no doubt that MGS:GZ will own almost everything this gen, and The Last of Us has that chance too.    Every other game is just more of the same with some new additions in order to keep the franchise fresh, and that is not a bad thing, but is far from revolutionary.

I am a huge God Of War fan (It is my 2nd favorite franchise), the game looks awesome, and the things they are adding are really spectacular, but still, it is not a revolution from GOW3. Will it be awesome? Hell YES! ,  Will I buy it? Of course, CE already pre-ordered; will it be better than GOW3? Definitely, but I dont see that special thing, that will make me go nuts like a sissy girl while I am playing the game lol XD.   Maybe in GOW4 that will happen :)

For me Ground Zeroes and TLOU, have already a 10/10 score.

I think this generation...

I agree about Ground Zeroes. Ground Zeroes is what inspired me to make this thread.

More like a thud for me unless I purchase PC games and Dragon Quest X. HD bros can have all the fun. I already have a big enough back catalog that I don't really give a shit. Wii U is coming is all I care about. To be honest almost none of those games interest me (GTAV and AC3 are the only games that look interesting to me).

This will be my bang to end this generation

Unless The last guardian makes it before the next consoles come out.

I'm glad that there's a lot of great stuff coming. 2012 has been pretty boring so far. I've mostly played HD collections, arcade titles and Steam sales this year.

Have about TLOU??  I think it has the chance as well to be a revolutionary game.

Oh, I agree. Definitely getting it. It's just that watching the MGS:GZ trailer for the third time gave me the idea for this thread.
