I believe you can get a free upgrade every 2 years with most cellphone contracts. I'm not entirely sure how it works as I generally stick with my phone for much longer.

My 2 year contract is over so I can upgrade my phone. My iPhone 4 isn't going to waste either as I'm giving it to my girlfriend to replace her even older iPod touch. That iPod touch will be going to her sister to replace her (battery is dying) really old iPod with Video for music.

None of it going to waste!

Today Motorola had an event in which they announced the RAZR i. It sports a single-core 1.3GHz Intel Atom (2GHz turbo!) built on the 32nm manufacturing process which supports hyper-threading as well. In turbo mode thechip is so fast that the 8 megapixel camera starts in under 1 second and can take 10 pictures in less than one second (front camera is a standard 0.3MP). The screen is 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced display of qHD resolution with Gorilla Glass for protection.

And I won't be here tomorrow for the HTC conference, but a phone that could be announced tomorrow has surfaced:

HTC One X 5, five as in 5" 1080p screen, needing help from  a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset. Seems like might be a concept phone, but we've already seen in this thread two other possible candidates for tomorrow: the HTC One X+ or HTC 8X.

The HTC One line looks nice, but mobiles are becoming too big I think... was browsing during the weekend and I really liked the HTC Desire C size/shape, shame it isn't dual core.

The HTC 8X features a 4.3 inch, 1280 x 720 pixel Super LCD display with Corning Gorilla Glass. It has a dual core 1.5 Ghz Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 0.4 inch case that will come in a variety of colours including red, blue, yellow, or black. The phone has an 8MP camera on the back and a 2MP camera on the front. It supports 4G LTE and NFC, and features Beats Audio. HTC will sell the phone with 16GB of storage but there's no microSD card slot for extra storage.

The HTC 8S model comes with a 4 inch, 800 x 400 Super LCD display with Gorilla Glass. It has a 1 GHz Snapdragon S4 CPu, 512MB of RAM, and a 5MP camera on the back. There’s no front-facing camera. HTC did throw in a microSD card slot, but there’s only 4GB of built-in storage.

I don't think there are any more conferences set for this month. There is a rumoured iPad mini announcement next month but that doesn't go with Apple tablet releases. I'm still looking for a mobile, might wait and see how the budget Nokia phones turn out like or if this 8S is small enough... I just want an up-to-date small smartphone!
