Forums - Sony - Sony Finally Announces Larger SimulView Screen: 84 Inches of 4K Glory

I too believe that the picture quality of Sony's TVs (especially the 24" SimulView-enabled 3D Display and their Bravias) are better than Samsung TVs.

Now, with that off-topic bit out of the way, I'd have zero use for a TV of this size. More power to Sony if this works out, but sometimes, ya have to know when too much is too much. 4K resolution at 84" is too much for me.

Lol, i think it too much for 99 percent of people, but these tv's are marketed to the rich anyway. For eveyone else it's just something to drool over.

A tv can never be to big, why do you think people go to theaters?

They need to work on making transparent glass in tv screens.

I think this sounds beautiful! And it could do passive 3D (interlaced style) and you would still have a rather nice picture.

But I wonder if they shouldn't just jump all the way to 8k. That seems like it a stat where TV stay at for quite a while. You could really see a great deal of detail.

I want to see one of these in person!

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

@Zappykins: I think the 4k LG does passive 3D.

Anyways, arent the Sony panels manufactured by Samsung anyways?

The pcture quality of Sony and Samsung TV's are pretty much the same as long as they are calibrated well (I see them everyday, that is my job). Sony models last longer though. That is why there is a premium for Sony TV's.

As appealing as this is, how is Sony going to win with this kind of bullish business approach?

Samsung, Panasonic and LG have tv´s like this , why is this "bullish bisiness " ?

Cuz it's Sony and Sony is always wrong.

Mother of god. This TV is definitely meant for gamers, but I've played simulview before and its awesome. The problem is that this TV is too hardcore and will only go to serve a niche gaming crowd.

599$ :P

2160p makes sense for such large TVs but most households probably won't have a TV that displays at this resolution until sometime in the 2020s ...
