The World Ends With You Set for iOS

Square Enix accidentally reveals its surprise TWEWY announcement in advance.

Square Enix's big The World Ends With You surprise appears to have been spoiled... by Square Enix itself!

The company's e-Shop has a listing for a new The World Ends With You soundtrack. The listing mentions that a version of The World Ends With You is due for release on iOS this year.

You can see the soundtrack listing here. The text mentioning the iOS version of the game has been removed.

The original text mentioned that the iOS version of the game will have new music.

The soundtrack in question is titled Subarashiki Kono Sekai Crossover (using the Japanese name of TWEWY, Subarashiki Kono Sekai). Set for release on October 1 at ¥1,890, the soundtrack includes the new iOS version songs, the TWEWY arrangements from Kingdom Hearts 3D, and new arrangements prepared just for the soundtrack.

Square Enix's TWEWY countdown is scheduled to reach zero this weekend, so we should get official announcement soon. It's possible that there will be more to the announcement than just the iOS version, so TWEWY fans will want to keep an eye on the teaser site.

Edit: Lets hope this is more than just the iOS version. :P

Square sure does know what gamers want. A countdown site for a port of a game that needed two screens to work.

I hate the game, good for those who want it, and for those who want mobile gaming to grow ;]]

keep on trolling square :p

If true, it´s the kind of thing that makes me question the people who swear smartphones/tablets/etc aren´t in competition with dedicated gaming handhelds.

If 3rd parties treat them as an alternative, then they´re already competing...sure there are differences and all that, but at some point there´s an overlap, and it seems to be growing.

If this is true, I now hate Square Enix with PASSION. Not for not releasing the game of my dreams, oh no, but for teasing the living daylight out of me and hyping the potential game completely out of proportion only to take the biggest dump any company has ever taken all over my face.

And let me tell you, this is one dump you don't want over your face.

I'm personally fine with this. The top screen combat in TWEWY felt very tacked on. And the touch screen combat could be greatly improved by allowing two fingers moving around at once on the touch screen. Maybe they will allow you to combo pins together, 1 with each finger. It might actually work better than the DS, especially for those who have an Ipad which will give them plenty of space. As long as square makes this a full fledged game I'll be happy. They have done a decent job porting their classics to IOS so I have some hope.

Yeah, I'm a little puzzled about that.

Maybe they set the top screen to auto full time. That's how I played it on DS, anyway.
