Yes, they are.  But not everybody uses condoms, and some cultures (like those in africa) actually believe they CAUSE STDs.

Just saying, there's real legitimate and actually beneficial reasons to be circumcised. Saying that you can go uncircumcised and not deal with any of the problems as long as your sanitary is not the point. The point is that there are health benefits to circumcision. Science (see link I posted above) says so.

Cutting off children’s legs may have benefits for them if they become morbidly obese and develop type 2 diabetes ... I don't think you'd argue for that procedure when the obvious correct action would be to prevent these children from becoming morbidly obese.

In the western world we have far better options for the prevention and treatment of the problems circumcision is supposed to aid, so there is no legitimate reason why circumcision should be promoted for health reasons.

1) Let's take the USA and the EU, roughly the same population. One have a high percentage practices of circumcision, in the other it very rare. STDs are higher in the one with the high practice.

2) Circumcision is big business in the USA estimated to be well over $1bn to doctors and hospitals, of course they are going to promote it.

3) If the foreskin wasn't useful evolution would have likely dropped it. Hair, nails etc all play important biological roles.

I am really glad this stupid practice of circumcising babies is extremely rare in western europe unlike the USA for example.

Circumcision of children should be illegal. Of all the BS people come up with to protect children, you would think destroying a piece of their body at birth would take more priority.

Parents need to have a lot less say in what happens medically to their kids. Unless it is a life threatening scenario, body modification should be the choice of the individual. I am not saying five year old should be able to make that decision, but somewhere around 13 - 15 I think people have a pretty good idea of if they want. I would hate to be born with extra fingers, then have my parents take them off when I'm two years old.
