Wii - (Gamecube compatibility, Smash Bros etc. Old classics N64, Snes, Nes, Genesis etc)
------------------------------------------ However if Wii U can play cube then I'll replace Wii with Gameboy
Wii U
3DS
PS3
NINTENDO
nintendo forever . . .

Wii: Because, in addition to all of its own great games, it can play 'Cube discs and download much of the best of the libraries of Nintendo's previous consoles.
3DS: The entire DS library of games plus its own steadily growing number of hits.
360: Mass Effect, Gears, Halo, and dozens of other fantastic games.
SNES: Because it's the only way to play the original version of Turtles in Time :D
360: Easy to argue a ps3 is better if you have a gaming pc since all you are missing out on is halo/gears/forza, but if you don't have a gaming pc I much prefer the 360/PC exclusive library to the PS3's exclusive library.
3DS: Was going to go with DSlite for gba compatibility but heck most gba games are probably in the nintendo store.
Wii: All my favorite gamecube games and the couple of brilliant wii games. Can download previous gen games nintendo games.
PS3: Was going to go with the ps1 since my favorite sony exclusives were on that system but most of them are probably on psn.
If we are ignoring backwards compatibility and just picking the consoles most of our favorite games are on.
Gamecube
xbox 360
GBA
PS1

Well with the dreamcast you get Shenmue which you mentioned which is an amazing game. You've also got a great collection of Shumps (Ikaruga is on the GC but many of the others are not, like Giga Wing, Mars Matrix, Under Defeat, etc). Then there is the very best version of Street Fighter II (Street Fighter II X), Vampire Chronicles, and Powerstone. I'm also a pretty big fan of Armada and Blue Stinger so yeah the Dreamcast has a lot to offer for me. I like my n64 but honestly there are like 6-7 games on it that are exclusives that I care to play and anything multiplatform I'd prefer elsewhere. |
Wow, except for Powerstone and Street Fighter, I've heard none of those games. I guess everyone has their own interest. I thought I ad all the good games with Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, SOnic Shuffle, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Gandia 2. Resident Evil, and Soul Calibur..

I've owned an NDS. It's good, but it lacks variety, much like the SNES. I can only have room for one lacking console. Vita can play a lot of PSP games, as they're available for download and can also play a lot of things the psp can't. If you owned a Vita, you would understand. It really is potentially the (pronounced thee) best designed console, next to the SNES. Everything just feels perfect. It'll take some time for it to get a bigger library, but it really is the cat's pajamas. I feel the same way about WiiU. I think it's potentially one of the most unique gaming experiences to ever hit, and the idea is really solid. I like the Wii a lot, but it's just lacking "something"...it's style ovver substance. I believe that something is the wiiU pad. |
I don't own a Vita, but I do own a PSP and I don't agree with you. My PSP library is mostly full or ports/remakes and has very little new games. Of the new IP's almost everything is a sequel to a console franchise (Valkyria Chronicles), similar to other types of games (Jeanne D'Arc), a handheld version of a PS3 console franchise (Resistance) or a Final Fantasy spinoff (Crisis Core).
With my DS I have my share of ports/remakes, but I also have unique handheld experiences with games like Pokemon, Advance Wars, and Fire Emblem (which is much better on handheld then on consoles, and feels at home here). I also have a slew of different types of games from 999 to Infinite Space, to Zelda, to Radiant Historia, to Golden Sun, to Soma Bringer (english Patch).

Not the same. I've played both and I still enjoy the originals more. The way the battle systems worked back then, the graphics, the music, I like it all a lot more. I'll admit that nostalgia has a lot to do with it as well. |
It's mostly Nostaliga, although the abilities learnt are different in HeartGold and FireRed, the base game is still the same. I just hate the stupid flashbacks in FireRed.
When I play the remakes, I just think of the old games and forget about the graphics. I do however enjoy the backlight and sexy colours.

Oh, so then you must own games like monster hunter freedom unite, patapon, fftactics, tactics ogre, lumines, mgs:peacewalker, Half-minute Hero, every extend extra, where is my heart, corpse party, third birthday, gods eater, disgaea, super stardust, wipeout, valkyrie profile,...
And do not get me started on your DS list. Look man, I'm not a hater, I've owned a DS, but your list is very hypocritical to that criteria you put against psp.
Also, you did not mention games like Ouendan or Devil Survivor or Etrian Odyssey, so I don't think our taste in games matches up very well in the first place, especially when you simultaneously shit on Jeanne D'Arc for being "like another game".
