however EB gave me a coupon that when presented I get $40 off a new 3DS XL or for $99 when I trade a 3DS in.

3DS XL will launch at $248 AUD here, so be interesting to see wha tother retailers do.

yeh that $99 trade in is a pretty sweet deal. how did you get a $40 off coupon bro?

Silver+Black here! I've had it for almost a month already. It's amazing.
Everyone should buy it. :P

In my opinion, Dead or Alive Dimensions is the only game that looks a little better on the original 3DS. XL makes Dimension's characters a little too jaggy.

The jagginess due to the low pixel density will probably stop me from ever buying one although the size of the top display makes for far more comfortable viewing over extended play sessions.

Comfort-wise, the larger size is a big plus, but the ergonomics issue is a lot less of an issue when using the original 3DS with the CPP, which really is quite comfortable even if it's at the cost of killing portability.

If Nintendo had built CPP controls into the XL, I almost certainly would have bought one even without a resolution upgrade.

I bought mine last week for "cheap" 159 bucks (euros so its not really that good of a deal because 159 euros = 197 dollars) The regular price for it would be 199 euros which is 247 dollars (I hate this 1:1 currency crap F*you!)

And I also had to buy the charger seperately (greedy bastards... it's not enough that we pay more every time So you want us to pay even more now? ) well it was 6 euros so no big deal.

I didnt play much because Im in need of a screen protector because I hate scratches. So untill I have one I will barely play it.

I just tested some games for a few minutes each.

The device is cool and all but the yellowish screens bother me. I heard  its glue that didnt have time to dry  but Im not so sure if thats really the case but who am I to know lol.

(The first batch of 3ds's back in 2011 had no yellow screens but this might really be because Nintendo produced a ton of those so the 3ds start would have enough hardware. Most 3ds units back then were stored for months before being bought by someone. Newer 3ds consoles are manufactured and at max stored for some weeks and then hit shelves. So it really might be a glue issue I really hope it is)

And I somehow dont like the Dpad   its so loud when you use it  I dunno why they did that.  It feels better but sounds horrible.

Oh yeah I bought a silver/black 3ds. I would have loved to buy a japanese white model because all the black stuff looks so boring and red/blue look like toy colors IMHO (I also hated most of the DSiXL colors so I never bought a DSiXL) The only choice left was silver/black and because the 159 euro deal was a limited 1 day offer I had to buy one. I still have my regular 3ds tho and will NOT sell it.
Btw my regular 3ds is black  but at least this black is not boring.  If the blue 3ds would have been available at day 1 I would have bought that instead  and same goes for the snow white 3ds which i prefer over the blue one.   The black top screen on the white device with grey slide pad looks awesome IMO.

It was on the back of the $99 trade in deal coupon as a second option if you did not want to trade in a 3ds.

The blue one they gave me when I got NSMB2

I did, I got mine right when the store opened, and it's AMAZING!!!
I did not upgrade from the 3DS; the most recent DS I had was the DS Lite, so it's a big improvement!  But the switch for the wireless is at the same spot that the power button was on the DS Lite, so I find myself using that switch and then wondering why my XL doesn't turn on lol.

Super Mario 3D Land and MK7 look really good on the big screens. I've been taking it around, but I haven't yet gotten anyone with StreetPass :(

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

Yellowish tint screen is what scares me the most of the 3DS XL but after looking at a few forums it seems that supposedly it goes away after awhile or is less noticeable.  Most people seeem to believe it is the glue not being dried enough.  I'll just wait till next year probably anyways to get an XL since I have to focus on the Wii U that is coming out.  My reg 3DS will have to hold me till then.

It took my brother about 15 minutes to do his, but that doesn't include having to re-download all the ambassador games.

Did you try swaping the sd card from the OG3ds into the new one?

No, and while he hasn't tried it I'd doubt it'd work since the memory card is tied to the system.

Congrats on the big upgrade! Going from the DS Lite to the 3DS XL is huge improvement, so you must really be enjoying it...a lot. I'm kinda envious that I don't have the same feeling since switching over from the regular 3DS. lol

Yeah, there is a very slight yellow tint to the screen, but it's honestly something that isn't worth being concerned over. I'm kinda a videophile myself, and I've just accepted that if I'm looking for prestine image quality that I'm not gonna find it on the 3DS.
