Why does DS still sell so many units in USA anyway?

Because you can buy one for about $100, it's still being supported a bit by licensed, multiplat, and Pokemon games, and it already has one of the best libraries of all time.

Remember, 7 of the top 100 games this week in America were DS games.

I still believe software can help it. Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, and various smaller titles ought to boost it to respectable levels this year in the West. Honestly, the biggest problem so far for it is Japan, but even there it can be redeemed. A Monster Hunter port alone could sell a million or more, even if untimely, and a single Square Enix RPG can also be a great boon for it. That said, I believe the Vita lost to the 3DS in Japan when Monster Hunter 4 became, at best, a multiplat title.

Nobody's gonna buy a vita now when they can wait a few weeks and get a bundle for the same price.

That or they'll wait to next year for the price cut.

There are better value bundles already available

Also, weren't those bundles announced after these figures happened ?

The madden and Assassins creed bundle have been known about since E3. LBP and COD bundles were announced at gamescon. The madden one comes out in two weeks.

Time for hype

1.Those Europe numbers are pretty impressive considering that NSMB 2 hasn't came out there yet. Interested to see the hardware boost that NSMB 2 will give to Europe next week.

2. Japan's 3ds sales are holding up nicely, NSMB2 should keep it at a high level until the next big release comes.

3. Kingdom hearts has definitely helped the 3ds these past few weeks. Glad to see it continue to sell so high, It's my favorite Kingdom Hearts game by far.

I agree - the 3DS has better software.

Vita 35k is abysmal...

360 on holidays on US alone will smash Vita LT easilly.

3DS is a Beast i wonder how far away from 3DS Vita will be in 1 year... 40M?

3DS is still the strongest, but DS has been almost killed far too early, DS alone used to sell better than 3DS+DS combined: http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/40405/Global/

PSV in bad shape, but sensibly Sony won't take conclusions in a dead period when its competitor is overkilling anything else with a very important HW launch and many big SW ones.
