What do people think about Windows Phone 8, can it make a dent in marketshare where windows phone 7 failed.

it might do better but it faces stiff competition from iOS and android. It's slowly doing better though, who knows?

Windows phone's interest me though, i like how the OS is quick and clean. I might get one next year myself (WP8) if there's a good lumia that's not to expensive

MS has an uphill battle here. In my opinion Mango is better than iOS, but its sales have been lacklustre at best. I kind of feel sorry for them. Originality hasn't paid off.
But by the same token, I'm not personally getting a windows phone any time soon. Android is by far the most powerful and beautiful mobile operating system on the market, and what I've seen of WP8 doesn't change that. But I'll be rooting for them when it comes to anyone who for any reason is strongly against owning an Android phone. I really feel that WP deserves a bigger slice of the pie than iOS devices.

thats one baby step, now make it open source and let it be hardware optimized, not every phone is the same microsoft, don't be Apple, remove the software limitations.

Imo, Microsoft is making everything look and sound synonomous with each other compared to when WP7 came out, and is currently.

Windows Phone 8. Windows 8. Windows RT.

The Metro UI( the look to say the least) will be across all devices. Microsoft also hopes to take advantage of the average casual smart phone user who has a Windows PC and say "hey I want a full computer phone". Also, Windows RT won't do much more than Android 4.1 except the actual MS Office software (which Android has substitutes for), or Lime Pie, but people will be interested in a "full windows-like tablet".

I repeat, imo.

Nokia you build solid phones or atleast used to. Stick to that. Leave the name calling to fans.

It still looks cut off at the bottom. But after seeing win 8 on xbox 360, pc screens and surface, finally a place where that UI makes sense. Doesn't look so bad when it fills the screen.
