Forums - Nintendo - Pachter Essentially Calls Nintendo Fans A Massive Collection of Idiots

I'd be worried that his obvious personal bias might get in the way of his 'analysis',  but I'm yet to see any evidence to suggest he's actually any good at his job even when it's not concerning Nintendo.

This guy is a shill, only that. He gets paid to say these things.

Nintendo fans don't buy everything with Nintendo on it.
If this were true, than the Virtual Boy would be a succes.

Well, now that we have a public admission both his bias and delusions; there is absolutely no reason to give any heed to anything this guy says ever again.

The only reason this guy gets paid to do anything is because you keep giving him an audience.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Oh, Pachter. Look at what you have done...

I wonder how long will it take for him for not to apologize, because no one apologizes these days, but to release a note or something saying that his words have been misinterpreted.

I learned a long time ago that Pachter is a business analyst. It's his job to say stuff that helps the people and companies who pay him, and Nintendo is not one of them. Whenever he makes a "prediction", he's not speaking to the gaming audience per say, but to all the suits out there who own stock in certain companies. Here's a quote directly from Wiki:

"Pachter provides research coverage on digital media, social media, electronics retailers and movie exhibitors. As part of his research coverage, he issues buy, sell, or hold ratings on publicly-traded stocks, provides earnings estimates, and sets 12-month price targets."

Which is why none of his "analyses" or "predictions" make sense to gamers... because he views things strictly from a business standpoint. When he says stuff like X game is going to sell 1 million units at launch, or Y console isn't going to do so well, it goes over the heads of gamers and right to investors, essentially telling them what they should do with their stock and investments.

Actually, not only Nintendo but none of the gaming Co. pays him, as that would make him non objective in the eyes of investors, making his work/advises useless. And I agree on the rest.

My post was explaining WHY Pachter does what he does, because every time he says something like this there's a ton of threads on every game site about it.  Gamers need to understand where Pachter is coming from.  The point isn't whether or not he's right or wrong with a prediction he makes or a comment on his weekly GT show, but rather why he says the things he says, because he's a business guy first and gets paid alot of money for his financial analysis and advice.

That said, he definitely has a bias against Nintendo.  I remember during one of the E3 Bonus Round shows on GT he was saying how terrible the 3DS was doing in sales, and then Shane pointed out that in fact the 3DS was outselling the original DS at the same point in its lifespan, and Pachter just dismissed it as "spin".  Made me laugh out loud.

Actually, that's the most important factor for an analyst, after all, investors hire his company and his services to earn money, and if by following his wrong advises they lose money they won't hire him anymore.

Which leads to the next question: given, and that's something almost everyone agrees, that he's almost always wrong, why does he still have that job?

Please excuse my bad English.

I can't see how some of you guys are seriously defending him. He says that Nintendo fans are the ones who would buy a piece of cardboard with Nintendo written on it. Like it or not, that's outright trolling us.
That said, I'm a Nintendo fanboy and not just a fan so I'm even more offended, :P.

He's still butthurt that Nintendo proved his analyses wrong on so many occasions, he has to take it out on their fans.

Stay classy, Pachter..

There are less than 800k Nintendo fanboys.

Pachter showed over and over again that he doesn't have any respect for the videogame industry or people who like videogames.

Actually I think he hates the industry he's analyzing. Really strange guy.

Same question I ask about US Congress considering their approval rating is usually around the low 10%.
