Forums - Microsoft - Update: Next Xbox to arrive before 2014, Microsoft ad suggests

He is probably waiting for the Windows 8 Phones.  The Win 7 phone is very nice, but is missing a few things, like a forward facing camera - for Skype.  That I'm pretty sure will be in the Windows 8 phone.

And the current Windows 7 phones are not upgradable to 8, just 7.8.

Plus isn't the Nokia one only $99? or was that a special.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Most current WP7 devices (Samsung Focus S, HTC Titan (1 and 2), Nokia Lumia 900, HTC Radar) have front facing cameras. In fact, I'll go on a limb and say that the Nokia Lumia 900 has arguably the best front facing camera of any phone.

A slip up that makes all the gamers sing for next gen! Well done!

Yay!!!

1) I think we all should have known by now neXtBox will have strong ties to Win8.
2) However, I think this is the first time an MS person directly mentioned the coming of a "new Xbox". To me, this means its even more certain that its launch is firmly planned already... pushing it to a latest can be in late 2013 as they won't do a surprise fall 2012 launch.

i'm still banking on a Sept 2013 - March 2014 window for both MS and Sony.  without any announcements of any sort I don't think ealy to mid 2013 is really a possibility.  ..but i will bet that announcements and hype start rolling in quite soon after the first of the year.

the next box is going to change things.

is it going to change the subscription fee?

...'cause without knowing anything else i know that it will be waay too expensive when you factor in the $250-$350 in hidden fees incurred from live.

I'm waiting for Verizon to come out with a windows phone already.

What, the one they have isn't good enough for you? I mean for $179, you couldn't possibly get a better phone.

Well I just got a phone few months ago and they said they didn't have any. So if they just released one, I have not seen it. However I'm not aware of a verizon windows phone. Also I wanted 4g, so if thats not the case I wouldn't be happy with it.

verizon has 1 eindows phone. the trophy. its the only windos phone they have had, and is like over a year old. If verizon doesn't support windows 8, i woun't be supporting verizon.

I was kinda being sarcastic. Its a year old 3G phone that sucked the day it launched. Verizon literally has no support for Windows Phones. Maybe with win8 that will change, but idk.

Yea if they don't support windows phones I will be moving over to CREDO wireless. They are a non-profit phone company that allows you to choice what your bill goes to. I think it is something like 40% of your bill goes to a charity of your choice. It's a good company. However the downside is they use sprint towers. If that wasn't the case I would have joined them by now. My girls family all have joined from me posting stuff from them on facebook.

Ah, you are correct.  I remember techies complaining about something, and thought it was missing the forward camera.  Hmm, I wonder what it is that will be in Winows 8 phones, that is beyond the specifications for current Windows 7 phones.

I have thought of replacing my HTC with the Nokia 900, but 6 more months on my contract.

Looking it up - oh, wow, it's almost a 'mini laptop' and at 2gb RAM will have 4 times the memory of the Xbox 360!   I found it here: http://exploredia.com/windows-8-phone-release-datefeatures-and-specs/
