Why the hell is it the most expensive, it just isn't sensible. Shouldn't the Macbook Air cost less?

What are your Oponion?

It makes sense. It costs more because it is so small and light. That is my oponion.

currently playing: Desktop Tower Defense (PC), Puzzle Quest (DS), Trauma Center New Blood (Wii), Guitar Hero III (Wii), Ghost Squad (Wii), Actraiser (SNES), Donkey Kong County (SNES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), Kirby's Adventure (NES)

I am totally wanting that 64gb solid state drive.

...the size is appealing but no dvd drive? i know you can buy an external drive but still, it is too early to remove that functionality.

This slashdot post summarizes pretty well what you gain and lose when deciding for a Macbook Air instead of a Macbook. Pasted here:

"Here's what you get going from the stock Macbook to the Macbook Air:
2 pounds lighter.
0.25 inches thinner, at its thickest.
Spiffy new touchpad.
OLED screen, meaning that the LCD should last longer (this is a marginal improvement)
1 extra gb of RAM, base (costs $150 to add to the Macbook on Apple's website, $50 to add after-market)
Trendy new computer that few other people have.

Here's what you give up:
1 optical drive
1 USB port
1 Firewire port (probably not a big deal to travelers)
1 replaceable battery (meaning that your travelers won't be able to carry a spare)
1 hour of battery life (even worse considering the lack of a replaceable battery)
1 ethernet jack (probably not a big deal, since wireless is slowly becoming ubiquitous)
400mhz on the low end, 200mhz on the high end.
Replaceable RAM (RAM starts going bad? Your Mac is going in for service. Hope it doesn't go bad after the warranty is up.)
Stereo speakers
Optical audio out
$600"

Sad cause it'll sell like hotcakes. Who honestly cares about notebook thickness that much to sacrifice all that?

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Wow, whats the point? My notebook computer is perfectly fine, plus mines a PC so I can actually play games and have a right mouse button built in.

...Hmm as much as I love Mac I think this is rediculous... I wouldn't buy this! >_

Doesn't that add about $800-$1000 to its price though (and sacrificing longevity vs. a traditional drive as well)?

I really don't see any reason why someone would need to buy one of these...but it will no doubt indeed sell like hotcakes.

"Why the hell is the Macbook Air more expensive than the other macbook and it had less."

Because its 5mm thick on the thin side and 17mm thick on the big side *sigh*.

This may not be for everyone I wouldn't buy it for example but its an awesome machine and a technical marvel. If an Ultraportabel Mac is what you want this is the machine. Again an awesome droolworthy gadget. Not for me but the less features for more money postings are getting annoying.
