that's my G-men!! everyone and their grandmother doubt them and they pulled threw!! annihilated the Panthers!!!

I don't know about that.  I think that the majority of us picked the Giants.  They are a very good team, butseem to occasionally lay an egg like they did against the Cowboys for whatever reason.

I honestly expected more feedback regarding the prediction points. The poll has to be taken with a grain of salt, because it's unknown who voted (may be people who aren't participating in the prediction league). I hoped people would post and make it known what they want, but so far only two spoke up and it's 50/50, just like in the poll.

Also, I've said I am not going to send out any reminders, but four people who missed last week haven't shown up this week either (so far). Should I send them a PM to get them back on board?

I voted in the poll for the first option (7,5,3,2,1). I think it's unlikely for the same person to take the top few spots every week, and this point distribution allows more players to earn points. Then, if there's a group of people who score in the top 5 regularly, we could end up with a relatively close distribution of points among a larger number of players which I think would make the later part of the league more interesting.

As for reminders... I suppose you could ask if they even want to keep participating or not. It doesn't matter too much though, if you don't mind just recording a 0-16 week for those players.

I was mainly referring to many sports analysts, many of them picked the Giants to lose as many of their key players were out for the game and the Panthers just came off a huge win with their rival Saints.

i don't mind what you do regarding points but i guess if you have a top 5 instead of a top 3 then it will be good for places in the league, maybe even have 7 down to 1,if that's what you want,it's also fine as it is as in harder to get pp but you are the kingmaker in this thread

That's what I wanted to hear. That's why you got hired. I also saw that you picked Cleveland this week, so you are truly trying to make worse predictions than me.

I am going to make this change, unless there's a huge outcry against it in the next couple of days. The top 5 will get points each week and the home field advantage formula will be adjusted. Should make the prediction league bigger, better and more badass.

Also, I am going to send a PM to the lazy bastards tomorrow. In order to keep things consistent for the season, reminders will be sent only to people who run the risk of missing two weeks in a row.

Do not like system at all when it only rewards the top pickers. The only thing it encourages is skipping weeks and still winning because a skipped week is worth as much as not placing high. I did not even care about the rule rumblings until I see you are serious. This sounds too complicated and arbitrary.

I voted against the prediction points for the top five. I'll be honest, I think that awarding PP to the top five is or at all is overcomplicating things. Why can't people just be ranked by how well they predict the games over the entire year? Your league and your rules though.

Well, the way you suggest also strongly favors the winner too much when they might only win by one game or just a score on a Monday night game. The sixth place person also might get nothing for one wrong pick or the Monday night game.

Almost every game contains an element of luck. However, in most cases it's going to even out over the course of the season.

Using your stats as an example, in Week 1 Kenology and you picked the correct winner for MNF, but his result was a little bit closer to the actual one, so you lost the tie-breaker for #3. In Week 2 you and I picked the wrong winner for MNF, but your result was a little bit closer to the actual one, so you won the tie-breaker for #5.

Well, I dislike it enough I myight start flipping coins again or just not care. It just is not done that way usually. Even when NFL analyst do these competitions it is done by the number of correct picks and it often ends up lopsided. The only advantage I see to your system is it allows people to miss weeks or join late and possibly win. The whole concept of shaking up a pretty standard prediction system leaves me as baffled as why so many analysts picked Carolina to win this week other than it was a home game and Cam Newton does impress at times.
