I never thought Bo Jackson was all that great. I think a lot of the hype around him was because he played two sports. I suppose one could make the comparison as far as athletic ability but as far as football goes, I think Purple Jesus takes a shit on Bo Jackson.

The best two sports athlete in recent history is still Deon Sanders.  If AP doesn't get the MVP award on Saturday February 2nd its going to be one of the biggest snubs ever.

Yeah, I would give that Deion, especially in football. His name is synonomous with "lock down corner" and brought up in greatest of all time convos. Bo's is not. I'm not hating on Bo though, I recognize he was an amazing and rare athlete. I just never felt the hype when all that "Bo Knows" bullshit was going on back in the day. And I surely don't feel like he can compete with Peterson when it comes to football.

AP is the only athete I can think of that has his best season ever following major surgery for a injury.  The only reason he didn't get the rushing record is because he was slightly injured against the Texans.  Also Deion Sander could have been a lot better since he could have been used as a offensive weapon a lot more.

Yeah, your boy Brady doesn't look too good there. Aside from if being a pathetic slide, the kick is a bullshit move. He knew it too, look at how he immediately looks at Reed afterward.

He reminds me of the crotch kicking Suh. Both are hoodlums and deserve to misss games due to their cheap shots.

Suh=Brady=pure thug

My Boy, hahaha.

Anyway, I am going to root for the Ravens in the Super Bowl. I am going to be sick if a team that couldn't beat my Rams in two tries wins it all

But if you think about it reeeeeally hard, it'd be like the Rams really won the Super Bowl! Moral victory!

There is no way Akers could have won the first game against the Ram because the Rams would have won that easily in overtime if they had a better kicker.  Also last years Packers shot themselves in the the foot by going into shotdown mode before the season was over.

The Rams have one of the best young kickers in the league.

Apearently not or the would have easily won the first game against the 49ers.

What kicker makes 100% of his kicks?

I thought that was hilarious when I first saw it and the refs did not even say anything.

Can somebody tell me more about Bo Jackson? What made him so good that he was worth mentioning in this thread in the first place?

He was a running back with the Raiders who was a top-tier athlete in two sports, baseball and football. He much preferred baseball, though (he was a likely Hall of Famer before his injury). He was the first overall pick, but since that team refused to let him play baseball he never signed with them, and only played in the NFL after Al Davis decided to let him finish each baseball season before joining the Raiders squad. Effectively, this meant he only played about half the season, and was by necessity the team's second running back behind Marcus Allen. He still got paid like a full-time starting RB, though, which was fair since he outperformed several of them.

Dude was wicked fast, and unfairly powerful to boot. Of course, he thought of football as a mere hobby. It's not a perfect comparison, but think of him as Adrian Peterson if AP only started thinking about football in November, and openly told everyone he was only here because his real job is seasonal. As for why we're mentioning him, it's a combination of someone placing him on the wrong California team, and it being a very slow news day.

I see, so he was a pretty amazing athlete, if he could reach almost 1,000 rush yards in only half a season.

I don't see the original mention as placing him on the wrong California team, because the statement was along of the lines of: "If two old 49ers stars were back in their prime and if you put one of the best RBs in NFL history also on the 49ers team, then they would likely win one Super Bowl after another." - An extreme example of what-ifs, because the entire argument centered around "if, if, if".

950 yards in 11 games still didn't lead the leauge in yards per game.  4th best and that was his best season.

But he did that on only 173 carries.  Marcus Allen (who was a start in his own right) got about half of the carries.

I will agree with you that Deion Sanders was a better two sport athlete though.  Bo was a phenomenal football player and a guy that hit a decent amount of homeruns and used to lead the league in strikeouts in baseball.
