Will it ever end?

Over twelve years since it was first released and it's still managing roughly 1 million shipped for the last quarter, that's on par with some current gen systems. The PS2 is even outselling the X360 in Japan and looking like it'll outlive it aswell. Sales are roughly 160 million shipped and an insane 1.6 billion games sold this mother f*cker has no sign of stopping. It really is a system in it's own league.

Now that the eigth gen is starting it's plain to see the PS2 is going to continue selling for atleast another 2 years, or maybe Sony will shoot for 15 years lol crazy.

So a few questions to add to the thread. How long do you think the PS2 will last, will the PS2 outlive some current gen (7th) systems if so which ones and what regions, what do you think the absolute final sales will be at?

It is a beast. I think we deserve the PS2 absolute dominance over any other console in great extent (I am afraid and loathing) to Gamestop for having all those used PS2 games in display. The PS2 is a great console, cheap with a huge library of great games, cheap games nowadays and is a DVD Player.

I hope the PS3 follows the same trend once the PSFourth arrives.

My favorite console, i still have it and no plans to get rid of it, it's amazing that's still selling!

While I will certainly give the PS2 it's due -- I am looking at my 30,000 series unit as I type this -- it probably is at the end of the period when hardware can even be moved in emerging markets since there will be no new software.

sony is doing poorly guys so according to the reasoning used by some you shouldn't make threads like these

anyhow its amazing what the ps2 has accomplished so far and it'll be interesting to see how long it takes to fizzle out completely
