That's surprising, considering how much hate it has gotten in recent weeks.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

The number I see in there says "over 10 million"

I did a cntrl+ F search and saw no "8.8". Can you please quote the section you're talking about?

Looks like it's actually higher:

"Blizzard Entertainment's Diablo III, released on May 15, 2012, set a new industry launch record for PC games and was the #1 best-selling PC game for the first six months of 2012. Through July, more than 10 million players have entered the world of Sanctuary"

Over 10 million in 3 months?! That's insane. I wonder if the fact you can potentially make real-world cash out of the game played a part?

It's by no means a perfect game, but I look forward to Blizzards next batch of updates.

Diablo 3's world of Sanctuary is filled with "more than 10 million" players as of the end of July, according to Activision. The publisher announced as much this afternoon in a quarterly earnings statement, dubbing it the "best-selling PC game for the first six months of 2012." Of note, at least 3.5 million of those copies were sold in the first 24 hours alone. Not too shabby!

During a followup conference call, Acti reps noted that approximately 1.2 million of those sales were through the WoW Annual Pass.

Blizzard's assuredly hoping for a repeat of that in the latter half of 2012 with its World of Warcraft expansion Mists of Pandaria. But hey, competing with yourself for the number one spot sounds like one of those "good problems," if you know what we're saying.

But didn't PC gaming die about generation ago? Or was it generation before that...Hmm. I can't remember.

eh. i have already stopped playing. the need for always online has killed it for me. Which is a shame as it is a good game, but no more online required games for me.

not really, it's basically the same kind of hate that CoD gets. People bitch and moan online and then most of them still line up on launch day to buy the game. Still not interested in the game myself tho.
