Forums - Sony - Killer PlayStation Vita titles incoming, assures Sony

In all honesty you need killer exclusive franchises to sell your system. COD and Assassins creed will be mostly played on consoles/PC. Theres a good chance they will be overlooked for the Vita. Same goes for Sly and PS all stars as they will be mostly bought for the PS3 as well.

That argument falls apart when you look at uncharted's sales on the system. And of course there's the fact that these particular entries in the series are exclusive to the Vita. An exclusive COD and exclusive AC, on any other system they would be huge coups.

While that's true, the 3DS survived thanks to Mario Kart, 3D Land and maybe OoT, and those games has it's console counterpart (except 3D Land which is a strange combination).

Even more, NSMB2 is the sequel to the one in DS, and MHTri is a re-re-release of a PsP game.

What I'm trying to say is that no necessesarily Vita needs exclusive franchises, the Asscreed game is a new one different from AC3, and CoD Vita I think it will be different too from the console version.

These games can help a lot the Vita, and I sure hope so. I want some healthy competition between the two handhelds.

Also, wasn't Ubisoft who cancelled Assasins creed 3DS because of the low sales of the console? How come they make Liberation for Vita? Strange, strange world :/

When's Gamescom?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

I don't think they dropped the 3DS game because of poor sales, I think that's just consumer speculation and a little ignorance on how the gaming industry works. Ubisoft probably dropped attempts at a 3DS game because of hardware limitations since AC3:Liberation is turning out to be a massive title utilizing the engine from AC3, it could simply be because the 3DS wasn't playing well with that engine and Ubisoft wanted that and didn't want to make something else. The Vita is also really easy to develop for, I'm not sure about 3DS though, but from everything I hear from developers development time is extremely short on Vita.

Maybe 3DS will get an Assassins Creed eventually, I think Vita just provided what Ubisoft was looking for at the time.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

That will make me buy Vita wich is happening sooner than later because i know Gamescom will have surprises!

Wow, really?

IMO the only good PSV games so far are Persona 4, Uncharted, and Resistance, and non of them really make me want to buy a PSV over a PS3 which can play better versions of those games (except Persona 4 which is an enhanced port).

Unless Sony starts to make some real games for the PSV, I'm worried. I mean localizing Tales of Innocence would be enough if you asked me, but with a $250 price tag Sony needs more then modified console franchises and enhanced ports. They need something PSV specific, just like PSP had all those JRPG exclusives.

AC3:Liberation looks amazing and is shaping up to be a great title. I hope it sells on its own merits but the bonus items you get for playing AC3 on PS3 will hopefully entice fans to get a Vita to play it if they don't already.

I can't say anything about CoD, because, well no one can yet. I see a lot of potential for the game using Vita's touchscreen features for things like air strikes, cutting the wires on a bomb, pounding a code into a number pad, and melee. That with Vita's ad hoc and online capabilities I see a great game that will please fans of the series.

LittleBigPlanet Vita is going to be "the" LittleBigPlanet. They always build up and last I remember it will be compatible with the other levels made by the community. The features on the Vita will let Media Molecule run rampant with different gameplay mechanics and I've experienced it in an early demo before the Vita launch, whether tilting through a level on a jetpack or playing some air hockey, this game will be huge fun.

People are extremely judgmental of handhelds. The Vita is a full leap forward in handheld capability. It is just as capable of games as this gen of home consoles is. Scope, detail, graphics, content. It can play full size games and people enjoy playing those games as indicated by sales on home consoles. It's not the TV, it's not the surround sound system. When I was growing up I played on a 200lb 22" fuzzy magnetic warped tube on the floor! If you need something all encompassing wear headphones and hold it close to your face, best part, you can sit or stand or lay anywhere.

If its about "handheld" type games, the Vita has hundreds. Minis, PSP titles, most of the Vita titles out there are quick match experiences. Their fun games, but gamers want big titles, open titles, epic quests. Just because its a handheld doesn't mean they need to play games based on one mechanic like angry birds or cut the rope, even though they can play games like that. Consoles are full of games that match the "handheld" requirements I see others talk about. They have plants vs zombies, angry birds, cut the rope, fruit ninja, bejeweled. Those games sell just fine. There is no discrepancy between console games and handheld games, they are games, period.

I bought a Vita because I wanted a handheld system, a system that I hold in my hands, can take places, play wherever. I bought a Vita because it's better than a PS3, it has more features, its more versatile, it has more controls for gameplay mechanics, it can play online, it can cross game chat, it has apps, it has games.

This right here.

Everyone remembers what Sony's reasoning behind releasing the PSP as powerful as it was right?  They wanted to give gamers a handheld that was a more console like experience, with Sony and other developers following with games like Syphon Filter, GTA, Test Drive Unlimited, Gran Turismo, LBP, Crisis Core, etc.  Sure developers can still throw niche titles at the system, but they made it quite clear that handheld systems will work with any style of game and do just fine.

I own a Vita and a 3DS, just as I own a PSP and a DS from the previous gen.  If the game interests me, I'll play it.  However, if the game is already on console or is a multiconsole/handheld release, I very rarely double dip and usually purchase the console title, something that is a problem with both the Vita and 3DS.

From reading the comments on this thread though, I think the half or more people who don't own a Vita should get more enjoyment out of the games you own rather than hopping on each and every Sony thread throwing out your doom and gloom hope against the Vita and the company.

great find ryan
