You're just in denial, its hard to fathom how a 12 year old console and its bigger brother that was called the next Dreamcast outsell the competition this much. What matters is how much a company sells their console, you shouldnt limit yourself with pathetic quotas like "same market, same generation". Don't hate the player, hate the game.

The PS2 is not part of the current generation, and therefore has no business being compared to this generation's sales.  I've mentioned this in another thread very recently.  The PS2 acheived the majority of it sales during a booming global economy.  Are you in denial of the fact that the Wii is the only console of the current generation to sell 90+ million consoles despite existing in an era of recession?  Anyone can pile up multi-generational stats just for the hell of it and compare them to selected portions of their competition because they feel like it.  Does it serve any purpose?  No.  What is in the forefront of your own statement is that fact that you feel the need to use PS2 sales numbers to prop up the sales numbers of the PS3.  Now, the question is, why do you feel the need to do that?  Is it because Sony went from the #1 market leader of last generation to the last place market holder of this generation?

I can add multi-generational stats too:

Gameboy (118.69 mil) + Gameboy Advance (81.51 mil) + Nintendo DS (152.33 mil) + Wii (96.37 mil) = Nintendo 448.90 million

Play Station (104.25 mil) + Play Station 2 (153.68 mil) + PSP (74.86) + Play Station 3 (65.52 mil) = Sony 398.31 million

See what I just did right there?  3 Nintendo Handhelds and their current console lead the entire Sony console family and their main selling portable by 50 million units.  Now, does my edition serve any other purpose than to show a grouping of Nintendo products housing the same # of Sony products in sales?  Honestly, no it doesn't.  And, that's what I think of not just this specific thread, but of any cross-generational/cross platform argument.  There are variables taking place in other generations that make it senseless to compare them to the one you are currently living in.

Obviously Nintendo is the best in the handheld market. 3 of 4 Nintendo devices you compared here are handhelds while only one from Sony is handheld.

No problem with your comparison, just want to know how much 4 Nintendo consoles/handhelds sold compared to 4 Sony consoles/handhelds last Quarter, as the OP is about comparing the last quarter sales.

PS2 is selling in US yet. Just NPD not track it more.

By US I mean in Wal-Marts. We carry them still but I have not seen any sold for several months. Same with others stores (In CT)

I understand that you don't see the value in this thread, but please don't try derailing it - or if you do have a problem with the information presented, please use more than one word to explain this :)

Really, that's it??? If it was Turkish in an opposite thread, he would have been banned.

I guess it seems like it's up to debate whether PS2 shipments should be disregarded, for some reason. Anyway, PS3 numbers are likely down, however it's split, but about equal to 360+Wii?

PS2 sales are indeed impressive, but honestly its only 30$ or less. If my PS2 broke and I didn't have BC I would definitely buy another for 30$.

$30? Where?

Actually it was few years ago, at Gamestop I saw one for 30$. Which is why I assume it is less now.

Interesting fact I just uncovered: The PS2 and PS3 combined have sold more than the Wii, Gamecube, Xbox 360, and Xbox combined by 9.08 million units.

Here's my math:

PS2 - 153.68
PS3 - 65.62
= 219.30 million

Wii - 96.37
Gcn - 21.74
= 118.11 million

360 - 67.46
xbox- 24.65
= 92.11 million

118.11 Nintend0
092.11 Xbox
210.22 Total

219.30 Sony
210.22 Nintendo/Microsoft
=9.08 million Difference

Crap, I wanted to make this post.
