It's a Mitsubishi FTO V6 Mivec, Yes it has ABS.

Check engine light does not come on, it just happens suddenly out of no-where, it will most likely be fuel injection or alternator by the sounds of it so far.

There could be a short in your electrical system, in addition to the suggestions above (alternator, fuel delivery).
Don't know how to translate it: Standgas.
If your car is old, its not controled by electronic. Basicly your "Speed up" pedal is constantly pressed a little, because otherwise the motor goes off. If that is wrong , your motor goes off during driving.

I say alternator. If it occasionally not working then it could have easliy based a test when you had it in. YOu said you recently replaced the battery. So I am definitely saying it is electrical. I think a fuel problem would set off a check engine light and would necessarrly shut the car off.
Better take it in before the beast dies and strands you somewhere.
Final* Word on Game Delays:
The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.
Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.
Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

Not bad. Could drive one. How old? Meaning it would give a clue what kind of tech does it have. If the check engine light doesn't light, the OBD may not give a clue what's wrong with it. Usually the alternator problems stops your car and don't light "check engine", but it's happened so few times and you get to drive short after, when the alternator problems most of the times doesn't let you start until you do something about them. In what conditions the problem have occurred?

It is 1996 model, 120,000km's.
It might be worth noting that the first time it ever happened the car was subjected to heavy rain.

I was thinking about rain. And the other times? Was there any rain? Wet roads? Outside temperature? How are the spark plug cords in their place?
120 k, not bad. Sounds like a deal. What color?

The other times there was no rain, but the first time it ever happened was when it had been heavily rained on during that day.
I wouldn't know where to find the spark plugs :S
