I might have a sexy car but you see, it’s a little embarrassing but I have no idea where to start to check this ‘Air Filter’.

Are you sure it's a normal car.
Think twice before helping a friend in need.
I had this same problem but it might have been from a different cause. If it is not your fuel injector than it could possibly be (like it was for me since i drive a really old car) that the RPMs of your engine are too low to sustain combustion. I recommend going to a mechanic since you don't seem to know much about cars. But the way i fixed it i tightened the regulator to inject a little more fuel (my MPG did not suffer) into the engine to compensate and i have not had problems since then.

I'm gonna sound like a dick, but yes I know shit about how a car works (I know they need fuel, that's where it ends) RPM's you mean like the Rev gauge, how high is it supposed to be when say I am doing 110km's/h in 5th gear?
Out of the 5 times it shut down, 4 of them were at 5th gear, not during or near the gear shift, well after it out of no-where.

yep thats a car...here go to this site they can help you get a general idea of whats wrong...

Get a new car. Personally, I like how the new Audi A4 looks. Also nice would be a BMW 3 series.

Let's start with what car do you have? How old and what type of engine? Does it have ABS, TCS, etc?
Ei Kiinasti.
Eikä Japanisti.
Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.
Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.
How does it stop running? Do you get any kind of sound cue when it just happens?
You already have the most likely reasons covered though: If the car is in 5th gear and chugging along, it's most likely alternator, fuel delivery, or an electronic system turning it off. If your car is even remotely modern though, chances are that a failure because the car's computer decides that it needs to turn the car off would probably set an error code, that would turn on a 'check engine' light on your dashboard.
