Thanks goodness. Now if they would just lock their middleware from running on the system, then we will be in business. I want "great" games on the Wii U, not the stuff they make.
Crytek, the developers behind the popular “Crysis” series, have been developing Crysis 3 over the last year. Set to be released on the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3, the titles have built a reputation for setting standards in first-person shooter visuals.
Lately, rumors have been going around questioning if Crytek’s “Cryengine” would be able to run on Nintendos upcoming Wii U platform. With Nintendo being extremely quiet about system specifications and Crytek known for pushing hardware, every quote, rumor, and speculation was picked apart by fans on both sides of the fence.
Last week, Crytek went on record and claimed that their Cryengine 3 could run on the Wii U. Somehow in the mind of every Nintendo fan ever, this clearly means that Crysis 3 was a guarantee. Well today, thanks to Crytek GM Nick Brown, we have our answer: No.
This morning Brown tweeted specifically about the Wii U speculations:
“Just to answer the speculation, we are not currently working on a Wii U version of Crysis 3.”
There you have it, Nintendo fans. Anyone that was hoping for an AAA shooter at launch for the Wii U can put the war paint away; there will be no Crysis 3 at this time for Nintendos next-generation console.
