OP: I think a smash bothers original thats been tweked with a few extra features would be better. Smash Brothers 3DS even sounds better than memories but Nintendo have done things before that I personally  shit loads of people thought wouldn't work.

Agree. It would be cool for there to be a more retro-focused smash and a more modern-focused one, so long as the two kept the same core characters (e.g. don't bump Mr. Game and Watch from the console version, mmkay?)

Not surprised on the release date. Maybe the Wii U version will be at summer 2014, or holiday at the latest.

Well, the name is horrendous. It does seem like a name suited for the Japanese audience though... If they decide to keep it, the western version will probably be renamed Super Smash Brothers Retro or something.

It will be interesting to see how the 3DS/Wii U versions interact with each other. Perhaps they will do something as simple as switching skins between characters (giving the Wii U Mario the option of using his old skin, and vice versa)? It would be awesome to have the 3DS as a controller option, perhaps even with its own SSB cartridge, allowing stats and unlockables to be transfered between the two while playing. Even if only supporting one 3DS at a time.

Since the game just started development 2 or 3 months ago and is at least 18 months away from release, I'd have to say that I seriously doubt they've already selected a subtitle. Also, even if they had, "Memories" is not a good title for a fighting game. It reeks of lameness.

For some reason, when they announced the game at E3 last year, I thought they were planning to make the same game for both systems with online cross-play between platforms which if you ask me would be a pretty sweet idea.
