Forums - Nintendo - What will make you buy wii u at launch?

nothing.

I don't see anything compelling in the launch window for me ... just a bunch of ps360 sloppy seconds. couple that with the fact i don't trust that wii U will be getting "next gen" multi-plats (read: UE4) i'll save my money to see how things play out in the first year at least. i don't want to waste my money on empty promises again.

To buy it at launch I want Donkey Kong Country Returns 2 or New Starfox or New Metroid or New Smash Bros.
None of em' is coming soon, this mean I'll probably buy it later.

Fall release, Skype integration and asking price of 250€ (although it is going to be 300) . And information on other devices.

Been waiting since last year on details of possible non-gaming functions. Things like skyping with friends and family (microsoft would allow that?), VoIP or DLNA (last two impossible). Moved to a new country some time ago, and seen my need of a standalone skype device. Been thinking on upgrading my iOS device with the new iPod Touch, iPad mini or even a 7inch android tablet this fall. But I will also need a Wii substitute this fall since the Wii I currently have is going back to Spain end of next month. Plus I ams also interested in one of those Windows 8 laptop+tablet hybrids for this holiday season!

The main factor is release date. If it comes out during Christmas, I'll just get a tablet during the fall and Wii U beginning of next year. If it releases during the fall, then I'll buy it.

Decisions, decisions. Guess I should start saving up some money...

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

Nothing, i am a sony fanboy.
I'd get a Wiiu after the first price cut, if i'd be able to play super mario games and others in 3d. maybe even hd3d remakes of the wii mario galaxy titles, that would really please me!

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

What will take me to buy a wii u? It has to have one of the following
A killer app (the only things that can do that is Super Smash and Pikmin)
5 good games (worth buying)

What can hinder it is price. If it is over $350 my expectations go up Like more good games are needed.
When I first got my wii I had a checklist for games I wanted to get. For wii U their is a checklist but it is only 3 games (for now it is only includes everything launch window)

But what I like about wii u is that I don't have to buy any controllers unles I want the pro.

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true. 2nd UPDATE: I have no Switch 2. I am now behind

Metroid, Zelda, and Mario games. And Smash Bros. That's the only way.
So, I guess I'm not getting it at launch.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

The only Nintendo console I bought the first day was the Wii. I'm going to wait until the first price drop, or when 3 killer first party games are released (not announced, learned my lesson from the 3DS).

Pikmin 3, NSMB U, and the promise of Smash Brothers is enough for me. Just needs to have a price tag of $350 max, maaaybe $400..

For me personally, I want an HD Wii. Not a WiiU. Ditch the gamepad altogether and focus on wiimote/nunchuk.

Online that doesn't lack or drop. Price under $300.

Plus Endless Ocean HD and GTA V.

Yes, yes, and yes.

My biggest concern about the Wii U is that the wiimote is going to become chopped liver. I would totally rather play Endless Ocean with the tablet, though.

Actually, I'll admit the gamepad would make more sense as motion adds nothing really here (nor IR) and the gamepad would be perfect to act as a camera/ stun gun/ metal detector.  The leasurely pace of the game would make gamepad use ideal.

But I agree, I don't want the wiimote to be a secondary (and oft neglected) controller.   If GTAV released on WiiU but I was forced to play with gamepad - I wouldn't get it.  I'd just buy it for 360 instead.

I hope an f-zero comes it's long overdue and one of my dissapointments on the wii
