a bigger mismatch would be PF, where barkley and malone would just maul everyone else in the post. lebron and durant are tall enough, but they don't have the strength to match up in post defense, especially against barkley's backdown.

anyway, jordan makes up for everything else. kobe isn't in the same league (well no one is anyway).

Jordan is still the man but his last two years with the Wizards where laughable and his post playing career for the most part has been tragic.  The Bobcats just finsihed with the worst winning percentage of all time for the regular season and it could have been a lot worse if they would have played the usual 82 game season.


he was 40 when he played for the wizards..... why are you comparing that? and his career as an executive has nothing to do with his career as a player.

I already said it earlier but Jordan was over 40 for a little more then two month the two years he played it the Wizards.  The reason his last two years where laughable is because one of the greatest players of all time spend his last two seasons on a team that didn't even come close to making the playoffs.

The Wizards were pretty terrible at that time if I remember correctly.  Looking at their 02-03 roster I only see Stackhouse and Larry Hughes as being any decent.  Perhaps if they kept Webber and Juan Howard they would have done better with some decent big men down low.  I was a big Webber fan back in the day but once he got too hurt and finally stopped playing for the Kings is when I stopped caring for pretty much any team in the NBA.  I sort of like Dirk but not too many players these days.  The 90s was a bad ass time for the NBA but perhaps that is because I was growing up then and cared more.  It just seems like they had better players (or at least big men) during the 90s.  The power forwards and centers were bad ass during that time period.

I was old enough to watch the dream team play... I mean, if you pay attention to the opposition it shows just how bad that was.

The gap between the oppositions were far greater then the gap between the players.

The current team totally would of oblitereated 1992 international teams even more... if you watch the games... the international teams main weakness was athelteicism... and the 2012 team is undeniably more atehletic.

Another issue that really hurts the Dream Team is the intangibles.

The Dream Team didn't really prepare that much.    The NBA Dream team... pretty much was just playing pickup basketball and running people out of the gym.   The current team has prepaired like crazy, actually have sets and moves, and a are familiar playing with each other.



Individual strength is great, but basketball is a team game, which is why we don't have EVERY gold medal since 1992.

Even though the 2004 team had bad team chemestry and only won broze it still would demolish the 1972 team so would the 1988 team which also only managed to get broze.

being 38 and 39 coming off two retirements is still old. are you saying we should base his performance on his old age? look at all the players who are 38 or 39 now. are they still playing at their top forms? you're nitpicking nonsense right now. so what if he wasn't Exactly 40? he was only playing for the love of the game at that time. he didn't have the drive to win anymore. he actually said it right before he came back. players at his age no longer have the physical abilities to compete.

he just wanted to play again. that's his decision. i also disagree with his idea but at least we got to see him again. despite his subpar performance, he was still getting 20 something points per game, meaning that even at his age, he was still a star.

I understand what you are saying about the much weaker competiton and agree with it.  I also agree with you saying that the 1992 wasn't nearly as prepared as this one, but if they were to go up against other and prepared for each other than the 1992 would definitely win.  Jordan, Barkley , Malone, Johnson, Bird, etc. were on the team.  I didn't even get into the huge disparity at center.  Ewing and David Robinson against who?   Exactly.  

I'm not saying that the team now isn't great.  They are, but the entire 1992 team was more than great.  Every one of them are legends and rightfully so.
