Forums - PC Discussion - Quick question, are any of these computers good for gaming?

For the first one, I don't know much about AMD but it's quad core so it's probably decent. Actually I looked I this website, And based I this chart the second of has a much better processor than the first.

However it seems that the second pc has a better graphics card than the first. It's a toss up.
I would reccommend the XPS because my XPS laptop an run most games on at least medium settings. I usually have no problem running my games on high settings with low shadow and water detail settings. I don't care too much abou that kinda stuff.

XPS computers are known for their high performance. It's basically the next level down from Alienware.
I think HP Pavilions are more business grade, so I suggest the XPS

No!

Don't get any branded shit, just get custom build stuff off smaller online retailers. Better specs for the money. On ebay you can check the user feed back and seller rating, so it isn't a risk.

A little over $720, a big improvement over what's suggested in the op :)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Barebones-Gaming-System-PC-MM2-34-893-Intel-Core-i7-2600-3-4GHz-nvidia-GTX-560-/390439088371?pt=Desktop_PCs&hash=item5ae7fbb0f3

This should play every game out there, the best of the best looking at medium (some settings high), most games at high or maxed out at 720p/60fps.

As I already posted in another thread, do not post silly links.

Your system plays absolutely nothing for $720. No ram and no harddisk and a shitty power supply......

They're both OK for gaming. They would both be fantastic for gaming with better GPUs.

Is that something that could be upgraded in the future?

Yep. I wouldn't recommend those computers, you can find better for gaming for $800, I'll look some up for you if you want.

Yes please, I'm brand new at the whole PC gaming scene so I have no idea what I need. The $800 one I posted in the OP just tempted me because that monitor would work great with my ps3 also, but if the computer wont work well I guess it's better to find something that will.

The problem with this computer is that it doesn't include a hard drive, memory or operating system.

What other thread?

Jesus christ. I just saw the GPU + CPU and jumped lol.

I'll look for a better one. I got mine on ebay, including everything including W7 for the equivelent of around $800, so I know great gaming computers at these prices exist.

OK, here's one that includes everything, including windows 7, I payed better attention this time:

This one's a little better:

If they can run Warcraft 3, you can do some amazing gaming on them :P

I LOVE ICELAND!

What kind of performance will these be able to do?

They should both do similarly to mine, which would be the best looking games at medium, most at high, some maxed. 720p/40-60fps.

I'm a little iffy on the 2nd one because it is refurbished and I'd hate to order something that ends up not working, but it seems to be the best for the price.
