i always think about doping but then i remeber that nowadays thy are also all doped (i would say from almost every country). the difference is that they use one of the 100 dopings you can't find in the blood^^

When I think of 1988 Seoul, I don't think of the Russians first, I think of Ben Johnson who was responsible for the most spectacular doping case ever (he was so naive, his opponents were more clever or rather more lucky). I think of Carl Lewis who got the 100 m gold medal when Johnson was caught. Lewis later admitted that the US doping controls were very lax during his carer and he never cared about those missed doping controls of his anyway... I think of Linford Christie who won bronze (then silver) in 100 m behind Lewis. Christie was tested positive in Seoul 1988, just like Johnson, but he could still keep his silver medal, he was caught again 11 years later and eventually banned (but British officials said he's not guilty anyway and later they built a scuplture in memory of him in Manchester). Unlucky Johnson, a fallen hero ain't respeced, lucky Christie, some remain heroes even if the proof is there. I think of Florence Griffith-Joyner who was everybody's darling in 1988 and today we know she most probably doped herself to death.
It's never been just Soviet Union and GDR back in the day, it surely ain't just China today...
