@Kowen: Yes!! GB won more than two gold in a speed, strength, endurance events that doesn't include sitting.
Unfortunately I missed a great night of GB athletics (was at a wedding party).

The Russian Federation is a strange one. The USSR was made up of a lot of countries. If the USSR stilled existed and you look at the current table they would be third or so and have around 13 or 14 gold medals.
After the break up of the USSR a lot of non russian athletes still competed under the Russian flag because their countries lack an officail organisation.
China was nowhere in '88 but have now risen to replace Russia as one of the big two along with USA.
As far as I am aware the rowing is finished, maybe conegamer meant sailing.
Oh noes, an agonizingly close silver for GB in the Star class! Hopefully Ainslie will makes it all better.

Gotta give respect to GB these have been some amazing games and the GB team have been breaking it! Great results for them.
These have been the olympics I've enjoyed the most! The only thing I did not like was the opening ceremony. I prefered Beijing, Sydney and Athens (those are the ones I remember). But the overall organization has been great. Plus, London is a beautiful city!
