Wrong my friend, the PS2 was HD-enabled too :)

Gran Turismo 4 had a 1080i mode, and if the PS2 could pull 1080i with a 4MB framebuffer, the Wii should be able to pull out 720p with a (rumored) 3MB one with double buffering.

Just consider that the bandwidth of the Wii's eDRAM is unknown :P

the wii only has 2MB frame buffer with a built in 1MB texture cache and this is from what is known.

To do the maths behind this, at 720p it requires 2764800 bytes of frame buffer. So even if all 3mb was available, there is no way it could do double buffering.

At 1080i, we do 2 half frames seperately, so its really 1920x540 required at any one time. This requires 3110400 bytes, so puts it out of reach of the wii to begin with.

Of course,  as was the uproar over halo 3, even HD games aren't necessarily rendered at 1280x720. I suppose if the Wii has a hardware upscaler, it might be possible to do 1067x600 graphics at 720p.

I haven't read the thread, but
@omgwtfbbq; A system wide callibration wouldn't suit me. For light gun style games it would work [point down the Wii remote] but as i use a small portable tv if I callibrated it like that i'd have to hold the remote under my eye to point at anything... I like having the freedom of movement, which on a small screen is taken away.
Unless the system callibration could have a number of save spots [say 3-5] so you could save one that is similar to now, and then have one saved for each TV you want to have perfect pointing on [i move my Wii between my room and downstairs occasionally]... and you should be able to access it from the home menu instead of having to go to the Wii chanbels menu.
-----------

Things I would like.

- HDD attachment for future Wiiware [I only have half the Wih memory filled at the moment but I'm sure I will be getting more]

- being able to go back to the Wii menu from a GC game.

- Ablility to type longer messages to people on the message board.

-new colours would be nice, but I wouldn't change unless I could swap mine for the new one really cheaply [say £20... although if they make a new colour now I could probably make a profit changing to it]

----------
Stuff I have no interest in;

-HD graphics [better graphics I would like, but they dont have to be HD to be better]

-DVD

Better graphics, change-able covers, dvd add on, and just a whole new look, cant say i like the look very much.
