Forums - Sony - New PS3 models 16GB, 250GB, and 500GB plus rumored prices!

I really thought the 16gb(or 160gb) would be $150

good pricing all around, looking forward to the holiday season.

Same here. Then the 250 gb would be $200 and 500gb would be $250.

I'm betting wii would stay at 149.. or get cut to 129.. not 99.. and.. WII U will take over, and wii will start shipping close to nothing after WII u launches..

but I don't expect a price cut at all for wii.. or xbox 360..

it would be stupid to release a 16gb ps3.. and three models.. hopefully they bundle Uncharted/Infamous/Little Big planet with them..

I'm surprised by the $179 price. I didn't think Sony would cut the price but if they were to, I thought they would go to $199 at.the lowest. The $179 price is nearly a $100 drop! Should be some nice numbers this year if true. I wonder how Microsoft will react.

I'm betting this holiday we'll see...

$99 Wii
$149 X360
$179 PS3
$279 to $299 WiiU

Microsoft won't cut the price IMHO. If they manage to sell 11m X360 next fiscal year without price cut they will earn much more money than sellning 13m after a 50$ price cut.

well it better b 160G, but if it is 16G then, a simple solution would be to get a external 1T for $89.

with those price cuts this holiday season will be an interesting sight, but i'm still not sure how competative PS3 will be against Halo4, and last i checked, the cod exclusive dlc deal ended with blops 1.

16GB isn't bad. It would be similar to X360's low end sku with only 4GB flash.

a slim ps3 would sell like crack in japan.. again..

Halo 4 would push the 360 in the U.S and UK.. at least substantionally if anything.. but a cheaper ps3.. and a ps3 getting way more exclusive AA/AAA ip than 360 .. and the supposed budget line up sony may end up showing off.. and a cheap blu ray player.. that doubles as a playstation 3..

They're already losing marketshare... they couldn't justify not doing a price cut vs a PS3 model w/ Bluray, free online, AND 4x the storage.

besides.. a 16gb HDD would kill off any reason to purchase playstation plus.. which is going to be a big source of revenue for sony..

That's a special edition console. You can't judge pricing off of that.

It comes with high end SKU.. brand new $60 Halo4... two wireless controllers.. and headset. ALL specially painted for Halo4. THere is no way this $399 price is any arguement for or against a general price drop.

I feel Microsoft will wait until Spring to drop prices (just in time to launch the Gears of War Judgment console at a cheaper price point and offer their last LE Console before releasing what's next). I truly feel they aren't trying to battle Sony any longer for market-share, I think they'd rather reap the profits and focus on Windows 8, the inevitable next gen console, and SmartGlass (which should add a decent spec of value to the 360).

Edit: I imagine some serious price deals this holiday to accent the LE Halo console launch and Black Ops II, but not a full, worldwide price cut until Spring (the fact that they're asking for $399.99 for the Halo 4console reinforces that hypothesis).

Is that with the game included though? Or does it have something else, like an extra controller or bigger HDD?
