Forums - Gaming - I have to many unplayed games? Can't play them because there is to much to chose from

it's called: My STEAM library... I actually wished Steam would give money back if you buy a game, don't install it and leave it for a year just sitting there...

Idk I have like 30 games. Here is what I did to finish my games. I organised it all into 3 piles. 1st pile was finished games, games that I do not need to bother going back to. 2nd pile was games that are still playable after you finish, for example uncharted 2 for the multiplayer. 3rd pile was unfinished games that I rarely played. With the 3rd pile I stacked them in order of my excitement for them and just started on them from top to bottom. I have like 8 games left to beat/play to its fullest,

Weird I thought it was perhaps the 1,000+ games you have on your phone.

You and me both bud. Too many games so little time.

I have that problem. I just lie to myself and say that I'm a collector. It takes away the pain. On the plus side, I often do go back and play games that I put on the shelf. I've finishe Valkyria Chronicles three years after I bought it and I'm playing Dead Space right now. I don't mind having new experiences on stand by.

I think I'll post a list of all of the games I've barely played since this gen began. I need something to be depressed about.

It took me over a year to finally open and beat NSMB Wii...  I still have at least 5-10 Wii games that I have barely played or haven't played at all.   I use the collector crutch also.  It is almost like collecting sports cards but at least you can open it one day and actually play with it.  You don't have to worry too much about your hobby until you reach Angry Video Game Nerd collecting levels.  You might have a problem when you drop 500+ on the CD-i to play the terrible games just to bitch at them.

Although that reminds me that I haven't linked these awesome videos in awhile...  At least the Nintendo / Phillips deal resulted in this.

Just force yourself to play one of the games.
In my experience even if you're undecided about playing a certain game, just pop it in and play it and you gonna have a good time.
The weird thing is, even though I had lots of fun with such a game, I still need to force myself again the next day to continue where I left off.

Okay.  Let's do this.

PS3:

  • Dead Space:  Made it to the asteroid section last night.  Had it for three years but I'm finally playing it.
  • Devil May Cry 4: Got it for $10 or something (same day as Dead Space).  Played it for about two hours.
  • Final Fantasy XIII-2: Got it the day it released.  Have no idea what the fuck is going on. Still bought the DLC.  WIll beat is someday.
  • inFamous:  Got it the week it came out.  Got bored with it but I'll force myself to beat it.
  • Nier:  Got it for $10 about a year ago.  Was having fun but then I stopped playing it.
  • No More Heroes Paradise:  Hated every other version of this game so I bought it on day one and I hate it.
  • Prince of Persia (2008): A Christmas gift from '08.  I need to finish it.
  • A lot of downloaded titles but I'm not gonna turn on my PS3 right now.

Wii:

  • Kirby's Epic Yarn:  Played the tutorial and liked it.  Never played it again.
  • No More Heroes:  Heard it was a great game.  Bought it and hated it.
  • No More Heroes 2:  Enjoyed the original so much that I bought the sequel and hated it.
  • Obscure:  It was $20 and I always buy a 2nd game when I buy a game.  Barely played it.
  • Red Steel:  I got pretty far into it before I put it on the shelf for years.
  • Silent Hill Shattered Memories:  A great game but I keep putting it off.
  • Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam:  It was $5 so I grabbed it.  Played it for five minutes to see if it worked.
  • Okami:  Heard it was a great game.  It started off fun but soon bored me to tears.
  • Endless Ocean:  Bought it to play when I was really bored.  I never got bored.
  • Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2:  Never even played it.
  • Battalion Wars 2:  I don't even remember buying this game!

PSP(from memory):

  • Silent Hill Shattered Memories:  Recent purchase.  No time to play it, yet.
  • Rainbow Six Vegas:  Bought it with my PSP.  I have never played it.
  • Pursuit Force:  Free.  Didn't like it.
  • Mod Nation Racers:  Free.  Barely played it.
  • I'm sure there's more but I'm not digging out my PSP right now.  It's all about that Vita right now!

Vita:

  • Virtua Tennis 4:  I like Tennis games.  I'll get to it but I've only played one match.......maybe.  I can't even remeber.
  • Metal Gear Solid HD:  I'm almost done with MGS2 but the controls are fucking horrible.
  • Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus:  Fun game but I had to finish Uncharted.
  • Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3:  I didn't even want this game when I  bought it.  So why did I buy it?
  • Resisitance Burning Skies:  I like this game but I only play it when I'm at work.  I'm two stages in.

3DS

  • Mario Tennis:  Day one purchas.  I haven't played a single match, yet.
  • Sakura Samurai:  Played it for thirty seconds, I think.  Seems like it will be a good game.
  • Dillon's Rolling Western:  Made it to the title screen.
  • Mutant Mudds:  I love this game but getting time to play it is hard.
  • GBA Ambassador games:  A lot of good games but I haven't played much of any of them, yet.
  • Nes Ambassador games: 10 8-bit games that are almost unplayable, now.  SMB is cool, though.
  • Bionic Commando (Gameboy):  I always wanted that game as a kid so I bought it.  Now, I just have to try to play it.
  • Nintendogs:  It was like $7 at Best Buy!  I HAD to buy it!  Haven't played an hour, yet.

Xbox 360:  And these are just the games on the shelf!  There's even more in the closet but I won't dig them out.

  • Spider-Man: Edge of Time: Just bought it.  Gonna play it soon.....I think.
  • Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions:  Same as above.  I went Spider-Man crazy last week.
  • Halo Wars:  Purchased with my father's day gift card.  Played one mission.  I like it, though.
  • Enchanted Arms:  Needed an RPG.  Didn't need THIS RPG.  It's garbage.
  • The Witcher 2:  Day one purchase.  Barely played it.
  • Venetica:  Had a hot girl on the cover.  Barely played it.
  • Vanquish:  An awesome title that got pushed to the side when I played Mass Effect 3
  • Top Spin 2:  I like tennis.....right?  Then why don't I play my tennis games?
  • Ace Combat 6:  Great game overshadowed by better games.
  • Alice The Madness Returns:  Was having a blast with this one.  Bought it with two other games.  Something had to give.
  • Assassins Creed 2:  Goddam, this game is long.  I don't know how far I am with it.
  • Blue Dragon:  Had it for years.  Was having fun with it but then got sidetracked.
  • Bully:  Haven't played it once.  My kid beat it, though.  Looked like a ton of fun.
  • Dark Void:  It was $4!  My first game of 2012.  I actually liked this one but it's on the shelf, now.
  • Deadly Premonition:  Was great but reaaally tedious outside of story missions.
  • Condemned 2:  Haven't even played it.  Someday.
  • Dark Sector:  It was $9.  I liked it while I played it but I didn't finish it.  Halfway through, maybe?
  • Dead or Alive Xtreme 2:  bought it for the boobies.  Didn't even play it for 30 mins.
  • Dead Rising 2:  Loved the first.  Didn't enjoy this one.  I'm probably one hour in.
  • Dragon Age Origins:  I REALLY need to sit down with this game some day.
  • Fight Night Round 3:  Got it for free.  It was evidence but another cop gave it to me. Never even played it.
  • Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter:  The first great 360 game.  I stopped playing it after three missions.
  • Grand Theft Auto 4:  Didn't have the magic of the older games.  I'm almost done with it, though.
  • Episode From Liberty City:  Couldn't bring myself to play these two.
  • Halo ODST:  After I finish Halo 2 (currently playing), I'll play it.
  • Infinite Undiscovery:  Really liked this game.  Got to disc 2 and now I don't know where the fuck to go.  Needs a better map.
  • LA Noire:  A day one purchase.  My biggest disappointmen, ever.
  • Ninety Nine Nights:  It was $5!  I had no choice but to buy it.
  • Ninja Gaiden 2:  Was fun and only cost $5.  Unfortunately, I bought NINE other games that day.  Thanks, Movie Gallery!!
  • Onechanbara:  This game is broken.  I tried to beat it but it's fucked.
  • Rayman Origins:  I don't even know why we stopped playing this one.  Should fire it up today.
  • Undead Nightmare:  Great game but I was Red Dead Redemption'ed out when I bought it.  I'll start it someday.
  • Rumble Roses:  That's the last time I buy a game with my penis!
  • Silent Hill Homecoming:  I think I almost beat it but it was a chore to play.
  • Soul Calibur 4:  Loved the earlier games but I barely played this one--AND I bought all of the DLC.  I'm crazy.
  • SSX:  Day one purchase AND I bought all of the DLC.  Played the tutorial.
  • Star Ocean 3:  Got it with a Gamestop gift card.  I really want to play it someday.
  • Dance Central 2:  We played the first one like the world was coming to an end. Why didn't we play this one as much?  I even bought a soundbar for my livingroom TV just for this game!!
  • Child of Eden:  I was having fun with this one but then I just stopped playing it.
  • Perfect Dark Zero:  This game is a lot of fun, actually.  I only play it co-op, though.  When my partner (PrincessNYA420) wants to play, we'll play it again.  We're on mission 4.
  • Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands:  The only PoP game that I didn't own.  Got it for $5 from XBLA
  • I have probably 100 (or more!) XBLA games.  I probably beat a third of them.
  • There's a ton of other 360 games in my closet but I didn't have room for them on my shelf anymore.  Hell, most of the games in this list aren't even on the shelf right now.  Off the top of my head, NBA Street, Tenchu Z, and Ninja Blade are resting safely and barely touched in my closet.
  • *edit* Add Max Payne and WWE 12 to the list.  Two day one purchases that were really good but somehow got pushed to the side.

Okay.  I DO play a lot of games and I do beat a lot of games but I've bought waaaaay more than I could ever play.  Sometimes, I want to play a game and I don't play anything because I don't even know where to start.  On top of that, games like Resident Evil 4 and 5, Gears of War, and the Batman Arkham titles get multiple playthroughs (like five or more) while other games don't even get a second glance.  And that's just the way it is.

I say we take all the game's that we played for a whole of 10 minutes, sell them, and only buy a game one at a time. Don't buy a new game until we're done. I think that'll solve all our problems.

I think my problem was that I had to buy every single game I was remotely interested in.  I was buying ten games a month at some points.  Hell, probably many points!  There's hardly anything I want on the horizon for the next several months so I think I'm good.  This is a good time for me to do some catching up.

I do want to buy Castlevania Lords of Shadow, though.  But I don't feel like I NEED to buy it like I did with a lot of other games.
