This +1 . Thats exactly why Console owners pay alot more then PC gamers for their games. Plus a Dev doesnt need to pay anything to make games on the PC. Im about 90% sure they have to give the console makers a % of what the game sells. Now i know steam gets a cut for what they sell, but id imagine it would be alot less then what the console makers charge??.

Im sure Steam makes quite a bit as Steam is probably the major purchasing site for games on PC. If they didnt recieve equal royalty to console makers at this point I would be surprised. I can see why contractually publishers would hold back on them though, but it would be stupid to piss them off because PC gamers respond with sales numbers and Console centric publishers aren't fans of those.

Yes, Valve gets a % of the sales. Which is a better and more fair method than the fixed royalties used on consoles.
Btw, does anyone know much are those royalties? Some say they are as much as 10$/€ because that's the usual price difference between new releases on consoles and PC, but that seems a bit too much.
About consoles games and their prices, the lack of this kind of sales comes from stores and publishers. If you look at Ubisoft, they do it quite well, droping the price of its games after about 6 months with another drop 1 year after, usually going 60 => 30 => 20 $/€. But other publishers are more greedy and almost never drop the price of their better selling games (Nintendo, Activision, ...).
Please excuse my bad English.
