Forums - Sony - Sony lost Limbo deal because it wanted IP rights

Sony does seem to spend a lot of money buying things out while MS spends it's money partnering. I guess the advantage is Sony builds a large IP library, but at the same time MS makes friends.

Should have made a compromise. Instead it gets 1 year timed exclusivity on XBLA and PSN Limbo sales numbers arent even disclosed.......

But I thought it was common sense to devs that XBLA will get you more money/sales anyways.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Sony has a pub fund though, they pay for half the dev cost or something. Much smaller risk going for PSN

I've tried to play the game now about 4-5 times. I just find it incredibly boring.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

I've never been down with the idea of forcing people to play games on your system. If your console is truly good then it will speak for itself when people choose that version.

Yes...but exclusives are a factor in how good a console is. So it would not make sense get rid of exclusives to express the quality of your console.

no big deal,it still came out on the PSN,plus I personally had no interest in the game.

Smart move going with MS.

XBLA is more successful at selling digital downloads, so it likely sold more there than it ever could on PSN.

Nobody thinks its a big deal for Sony. But its a big deal for the studio that created Limbo.

If they went with Sony, the game and studio might have got lost in obscurity.

Certainly worked out to both Playdead's and MS' favor. The game is very near selling a million copies on the 360 alone last I checked on Limbo's leaderboards (they're reliable since Limbo is a single player game only). Stuff like Limbo, Minecraft, and Trials show why XBLA still has plenty of strength on it's end. Personally, I just find it amazing that Super Meat Boy is still exclusive to the 360 on consoles. You'd think it would be ported to the PS3 or Wii by now thanks to a publisher.

might be the only "psn-quality" indie title that microsoft has managed to "secure" lol
