Forums - Nintendo - Would it be possible to stream from the Wii U to the 3DS

Nintendo has had there consoles syncing with their handhelds since the Gamecube. It wasn't used much this gen, but couln't they send a signal from the Wii U to the 3DS and use it as a second cotronller rather than have people buy another tablet? It also has its own processor and GPU to help with the load.

They could even use it to output Wii U games in 3D.  What do you think of this?

You know, now that I think about it, offscreen play is nothing really new to Nintendo. They did with Four Swords adventure and Crystal Chronicles on the cube. If the gamecube could ouput to 5 screens, I don't see where people are getting the idea that the Wii U cannot.

They could, but I do not think they want that to happen. They have put a pretty penny into the Wii U tablet. There will be all sorts of synching going on with the Wii U and 3DS though. Just not sure about that.

@ Output Wii U games in 3D.

I do not think the 3DS will be able to handle a Wii U game. Probably a Wii game though.

3DS's GPU is only about as strong as the one in the GC so that would be  problem even for the Wii.

I was thinking the Wii U would do all of the graphical processing just like with the Upad. The 3DS would just convert the signal to 3DS with it features when its streamed to the unit. It would use no more processing power than a 3D TV would.

If the 3DS is merely receiving the video feed, it could output WiiU games in 3D no problem. It's effectively just streaming video and sending control signals back.

I don't see why it wouldn't be technically possible, but I don't see it working well since the 3DS and the pad have different controls schemes.

I don't know where people keep getting the idea that they're going to buy another tablet. In the past, Nintendo has said that they will not sell tablets individually in stores, that if the Wii U was able to support two tablets at once it would only be so that a Wii U owner could bring his/her tablet to a friend's house, and most recently, that the Wii U can support streaming to two tablets, but it seriously slows down the framerate and generally hinders performance.

Nintendo isn't going to make ANY local multiplayer games that require two gamepads. NO ONE is going to make those games. Sometimes one player will use the gamepad while others use pro controllers or Wii remotes; sometimes the gamepad will not be used at all. Some games may support local dual-gamepad play, but no one will use it because it's not meant to be used.

There's that brain training game from 3rd party that allows you you play using the DS to control the Wii game.
Probably mywordcouch or something.

Certainly nothing against it.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Even if it could I doubt Nintendo themselves will do it, although if it is indeed possible the hackers will definitely do it eventually
