3DS's GPU is only about as strong as the one in the GC so that would be problem even for the Wii.
I was thinking the Wii U would do all of the graphical processing just like with the Upad. The 3DS would just convert the signal to 3DS with it features when its streamed to the unit. It would use no more processing power than a 3D TV would.
